CULT51 Eye Repair Reduces the Appearance of Fine Lines, Dark Circles, Puffiness
I have super dry and sensitive skin and I normally test any skincare product on my chest and wrist to see if there will be any reactions before even trying it on my face. I tried this on the back of my hand where my skin is pretty weathered and exposed to chemicals regularly. The scent of alcohol was very strong and this stung and burned, so there is no way I would consider putting anything around the super-sensitive area around my eyes that contains denatured alcohol as the fourth ingredient. I understand that alcohol can help with penetration with a lot of ingredients but this is overkill. If the alcohol were lower down in the ingredient list, this serum would be a winner. There are a lot of really great ingredients.
Please don’t let fear-mongers point out one ingredient that a certain site says is dangerous -Phenoxyethanol- It’s pretty much the current IT preservative. It’s safe and gentle, but even more importantly, it’s not a feared-by-everyone-mostly-without-scientific-reason paraben. You really don’t want skincare that doesn’t use some sort of preservative since that would cause major issues and damage to your skin from bacteria. Bacteria is bad. Phenoxyethanol is good and very safe. You would have to use this ingredient as really high concentrations to be an issue. Worry more about the alcohol when it is in the top five of ingredients – well, unless you have very oily skin.

A very nice eye cream that I find to be soothing to the skin. It’s a warm white cream that pumps out of a fancy bottle or can. Only a very small amount is released at a time which is all you need per eye. It spreads well and feels great while spreading across the eye area. Glides across like silk. Absorbs well and does not leave any residuals along the surface of the skin. Makes the skin feel silky smooth and moisturizes the area. Diminishes fine lines and will last all day. It has a little bit of a scent that smells like some sort of cosmetic product with maybe a slight hint of coffee. It does contain caffeine, but I don’t know if there is actually any coffee. It’s not at all a strong scent and what is there will dissipate quickly.
Good for all skin types and is just as good for men as it is for women.

I have ultra sensitive eyes and this eye repair by Cult 51 does not irritate or annoy my eyes. I don’t notice any scent to it. It has more of a lotion consistency than a serum. It absorbs nicely. It doesn’t leave my finger tips sticky or tacky. I haven’t really noticed any difference since using this product but that could be for a multitude of reasons. For one, I’m not always very observant, especially with minor differences. Second – My close up vision sucks and I can’t see anything up close without my glasses and the glasses tend to get in the way when looking at my eye area! And finally, I regularly use anti-aging products around my eyes, so maybe they’re already at their best! Anyway, I do like this product and will continue to use it for the time being.

This is what I’m typically used to and/or expect in skincare for the eyes — a long list of chemicals that usually work great. I seem to have less success with natural or organic products that come from nature and wreak havoc with my countless allergies. CULT51 is not a new skincare line, but it is new to me. I’m usually a sucker for expensive, high end, or premium skincare THAT ACTUALLY WORKS! Attention to detail and the ingredient list in those cases not only matter, but usually prove out the advertising claims.
This eye treatment’s “claim to fame” is a patented, oxygen formula plus hyaluronic acid designed to treat 3 dreaded areas that all women hate: fine lines, dark circles and puffiness. Few, however, actually achieve results because the latter two issues have a variety of genetic and medical causes that make topical treatment impossible. Still, women the world over seek that perfect eye cream/serum/oil/treatment that will magically erase these beauty woes.
The treatment is best used at night and has a cumulative effect (so time investment is required with no fast, visible results). At this point, I was interested in how well the treatment moisturizes and whether it’s longlasting. It’s described as being moisturizing and instantly absorbed, and that’s the problem for me. The airy, almost gel-like cream initially looks and feels like an eye serum. It goes on very slick with a sheen of moisture that unfortunately fades all too soon. Totally absorbed. Like it was never there. Not flattering. This right here is exactly why my dry skin LOVES eye serums and oils. They last, do a bang-up job of blurring lines, and make the skin look totally rejuvenated. Much more flattering than any cream.
So, not only does the finish absorb completely, but there’s no indication — except over time — that any of the other treatment claims will pan out. My primary interest is the how the eye area looks right now. Is it moisturized, youthful, smooth, look its best? The answer to that question is yes, but only initially. I have many other eye serums, treatments that are long-lasting and more impressive.
I wasn’t able to order another product in this skincare line because of my known allergy to an ingredient, but that isn’t an issue with this product. Lasting moisture and even a superficial, but noticeable, change in appearance just isn’t there. For me, it’s another example of overpriced skincare that doesn’t live up even essential, desired results.
