This is a really good pomegranate supplement with a very high dosage per serving at 1,000 mg (600 mg fruit powder, 400 mg peel extract). It was easy to consume and didn’t have any strong flavors. At only a month’s worth of servings, it is more in the pricey side but not terribly so. Good option if you can’t get enough pomegranates in.

I tried this to see if it helped with blood pressure and/or memory as these are two of its advertised primary benefits. Well, in almost a month there is no noticeable drop in my blood pressure and no noticeable memory improvement to speak of. While this may work for others, I do not see any benefit for myself and I will not be trying it again due to its not inexpensive price. I am rating this three stars due to the possibility it will work for others as body chemistries differ. As always, your mileage and health may vary…

Sometimes I find it funny when people try to quantify with empirical evidence, the benefits of certain supplements. I certainly understand that perspective, and some things will have more of an immediate impact then others. Supplements like these, which are extracts of fruits, or vegetables, are not necessarily something that you’ll gain benefit from immediately. Sure pomegranates contain a lot of antioxidants, have anti inflammatory properties, are good for preventing collagen breakdown so your hair, nails, things of that nature. Those are reasons why you would consider taking a supplement like these. Small story I have, I played hockey all of my life. When I was younger I played competitively and took it pretty far. I’m now in my early 40s and play recreationally. I met a guy on the ice one time at a pickup game who is in his late 60s, and who used to skate like the wind, and looks great for his age. I mean quite frankly it was very impressive to see how well this guy could still play at that age. I had the chance to sit next to him on the bench one time and I asked him about his secret. He told me that is secret is fruits and berries. He eats lots of fruits, and lots of berries. That’s all I needed to know. I love pomegranates, but they’re not always in season and sometimes they’re very expensive. They’re also a bit of a chore to peel, and I don’t really eat the peels themselves. I mean who does, you’re only wanting to eat the pomegranate seeds. I believe this extract contains benefits that you would gain from eating the peels, if you could stomach it. Basically, it’s a prophylactic. That’s the way I look at it, and give myself a dose of pomegranate every day by taking these supplements. I find it easy to take down, swallow, and doesn’t disagree with me whatsoever. If you put things like this in perspective, you will see their benefit not necessarily immediately like Tylenol will do for a headache, but overtime. Personally, I like them just fine, and do recommend them.

I usually prefer to get my nutrition from food rather than supplements, but I make an exception for pomegranate extracts like this one, which combines extracts of the pomegranate fruit and peel. I’ve read recent studies on the benefits of pomegranate peel extract – it’s packed with powerful antioxidants, much more so than the fruit pulp alone, and also shows potential as an antiviral. I’d much rather get these benefits from capsules like these than try to work pomegranate peels into my diet! Whole pomegranate extracts have also been shown to act as an anti-inflammatory and prevent the breakdown of collagen in the body, making these supplements a good choice for skin and joint health. I’ve had good results pairing pomegranate extract with daily collagen supplements to keep my skin looking great.
Pomegranate extract has also been suggested as a cancer treatment/ preventative, but there is NOT sufficient evidence for anti-cancer activity of pomegranate or ellagic acid, so I can not recommend this supplement if that is your intended use. There also isn’t sufficient research on the safety of these supplements for pregnant or breastfeeding women, so if this applies to you please consult your doctor before trying any new supplements, even if they are food-based.
It’s hard for me to say how well this supplement works subjectively, because antioxidants aren’t something you’ll feel right away, but if you’ve decided to include a pomegranate supplement into your routine this one seems like a good choice. GRAV produces all of their supplements in Germany, where they are independently tested for good manufacturing practices, and all are cruelty-free, vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, GMO-free and made without dyes, additives or fillers.

I’m not a pomegranate expert by any means but as far as I can tell these pomegranate capsules are good quality. My husband has been taking a different pomegranate supplement for the past couple of years or so because pomegranate is supposed to help with prostate health. This bottle is only a one-month supply if you take 2 capsules/day as instructed on the bottle. I suggest shopping around and comparing before deciding on these.
