These Enzymedica DairyAssist tablets are relatively small and easily chewable. There are 60 tablets in the bottle. After opening the bottle, it wafted a kind of scent which is reminiscent of maple syrup. After reading the label, it says it’s flavored with Vanilla. That Vanilla smells and tastes more like maple syrup.
Unfortunately, that flavor profile only lasts for about one second after chewing, which then gives way to a strongly bitter taste that progressively gets stronger over time and lasts way too long. That bitter flavor takes over and leaves a horrible aftertaste in the mouth for too long actually. Better have some water handy to try and wash it out quickly.
The label states each 1 tablet contains 90mg of the DairyAssist Enzyme Blend which includes both a Protease Thera-blend and Lactase. If you use one tablet per day, that equates to a 60 day supply. The sweetener used in these tablets, and I will state that the chewable tablets are quite sweet, is Xylitol (a sugar alcohol). These tablets are manufactured in the United States out of Florida. The label states the tablets are vegetarian friendly.
Overall, the strong bitter flavor outweighs the chewability of the tablet. Chewables don’t need to taste particularly great, but the bitter flavor is super strong, lasts too long and can taint the flavors of the dessert you’re about to eat, like ice cream, milk or other dairy.
I’m giving these chewable tablets 3 stars because they seem well made and do seem to work to neutralize the dairy lactose. However, 2 stars off because of the strong bitter profile and long lasting nature of that bitter flavor. If you’re okay with eating bitter foods, these tablets might work well. If you’re wanting to enjoy a sweet treat, these bitter tablets might ruin it for you.

I’m not exactly lactose intolerant, but after a certain amount of just dairy products without anything else, I’ll start to have an upset stomach. If I know I’m going to have a dairy heavy meal, I’ll chew one of these and that seems to decrease/eliminate the discomfort.
These don’t taste the best, but I’ve had much worse. They’re a bit chalky like an antacid and they have a bit of a vanilla shake taste. I had a big glass of milk after taking it the first time and the aftertaste of the tablet didn’t bother me at all.
I think I’d prefer a pill form since I wouldn’t have to worry about the taste at all, but these are pretty fast acting. If you’re super sensitive to dairy, the chewable tablets might work a bit quicker than a pill.

First impressions: Nice bottle full of chewable tablets. The tablets are good size and easy to chew.
Installation/setup: Take one chewable with your first bite of milk based products. Take more if needed.
Final thoughts: These work pretty well. I just found out last year I have a lactose intolerance and I’ve tried several different brands. This works as well as any I have tried. The tablets are easy to chew and taste ok, if a bit chalky. I like these and I’m glad I got them.

Digestive enzymes. Is this all it takes? Why did it take so many years for me to try enzymes? Where have you been all of my life?
They don’t taste great, but they’re not bad, either. These are a great option if you have trouble digesting dairy, and it the current price of just $13.49, it makes this product a fantastic buy with 60 servings.
I can’t say for sure that I am lactose intolerant, but sometimes with dairy, my digestive system acts up, or perhaps it’s something else?
I haven’t experienced any adverse effects and I think this is a good product from an established brand.

The chewable tabs are small and the taste is pleasant. After years of avoiding dairy, or using lactase with minimal benefit, I think I’ve found my solution to dairy woes. I still avoid high fat dairy such as whipping cream or 1/2 and 1/2. When I eat cheese or ice cream or sour cream I chew 1 or 2 tabs, depending on how much dairy I consume, as close to meal time as possible and the results have been such a relief. So glad to have this in my dietary plan.

I wasn’t familiar with these units (ALU) initially, but it sounds like they are the same as the “FCC” units you see on other dairy supplements. That’s also been my experience; two of these pills seems to be roughly the same as one 9000 fcc tablet. The flavor is on the sweet side, so be prepared for that if you’re using it to wolf down a pizza.
Note that you’d need two of these to be roughly equivalent to the 9000 fcc units of others, but also one of these is roughly equivalent-ish to two of the 3000 fcc units.
That said, these seem to run at about twice the cost per unit of lactase as many competing brands. What do you get in exchange for that cost? You get Made In USA, you get some other proprietary supplement they are calling HUT, and you get vegan/no soy/no nut/etc status. If that stuff is important to you, then you should be happy with this. It does work, but for me, I just need the lactase and I’d probably prefer a cheaper kind. I didn’t see any additional benefit from the HUT, but supposedly that will help you digest dairy protein, which for me isn’t a problem.

These are great! They break down the dairy so easily that I have no discomfort even after ice cream or drinking a glass of milk. Ill6still get some bloating but no pain, discomfort or gas. Definitely a winner!!
