I find I crave this stuff when I haven’t had it for a few days. Hopefully that’s the pro-biotics but maybe I’m just not getting enough protein in my diet.
PROS
* Seems to go with everything. Cereal, coffee, soups, etc.
* Flavor is pleasantly neutral
* Container is easy to close and doesn’t arrive 1/4th empty the way so many protein powder products do.
CONS
* Like most powders, there’s a ceiling on how much you can add per cup before it tastes gritty or chalky. I’d estimate it to be about half a teaspoon per cup (or 8 milliliters for every 0.2 liters).
* Mixes in with water better than but doesn’t disappear. You still have to shake/mix a bit.

It’s super gritty and gives my shakes a weird flavor. Otherwise, it’s perfect! It even has one of those easy-close ziplock features where you’re not fighting to line up the pieces juuuuust right because it’s practically velcro.
I can’t stand that other protein powder companies feel the need to put sugar and bunch of other crap in their powders, so finding a decent unflavored powder is almost impossible, but I just don’t think I can get over the grittyness.

I haven’t put protein powder in my smoothie in years. I used to buy the Sun Warrior plant protein unflavored product a few years ago. I decided to start supplementing the protein in my diet again and look to see what’s out there these days. I am not a fan whatsoever of protein powder, one of the reasons I haven’t been using it.
As I was researching products I found Earth Chimp and OMG I was so HAPPY to see how clean the ingredients were and that it didn’t come in a big plastic tub that ends up being useless afterward and fills me with guilt. That was a huge plus.
The smell alone on the unflavored product is actually delicious, it’s got dates in it which I am sure helps with the natural flavor and smell. I use nothing but fruit and sometimes juice in my smoothies and wanted something that was just neutral. This product is phenomenal so far! I also put other items in my smoothie with strong flavors like turmeric, ashwaganda and other earthy ingredients and it blends in great. It’s not gritty or anything like that.
The customer service is wonderful too and had a great dialogue with Daragh and he was awesome.

This isn’t a super grainy protein powder and mixes well into my smoothies. It does taste and smell a little vanilla – which I like but it’s not flavorless. I also love that it’s not in a giant plastic container.

I just purchased my 8th bag of Earth Chimp… so, clearly, it’s a product I like. Here’s why:
A few months ago I went on a protein pilgrimage to Whole Foods and bought one packet of every soy-free, vegan protein powder they carried. In total, I tried about 15 different proteins and, in the process, learned I immensely dislike the taste of stevia and am not crazy about thaumatin.
While looking for an alternative online, I came across Earth Chimp… which is sweetened with monkfruit. And of all the proteins I have tried, I find it is not only the best tasting on its own, but the most infinitely mixable. Moreover, I‘ve run it past my dietician– who indicated it is a very nutritionally sound product.
I have tried both vanilla and chocolate, as well as unsweetened. While on a mission to avoid getting bored with only 2 flavors, I had a chat with Earth Chimp’s owner– Dave. On his suggestion, I have started mixing a scoop of vanilla and a scoop of the unsweetened protein with an unsweetened chai powder, golden milk, or matcha. I will also use vanilla or chocolate and powdered espresso or peanut powder. All of them are awfully good.
Here’s a few tips:
Every single plant based protein powder I’ve used gets lumpy… so I use a blender or milk frother to mix them; shaking is okay but blending is better.
Protein shakes seem to go down easiest when they’re super cold… so I often put mine through the blender with ice.
Earth Chimp is great in smoothies. Although I rarely have it as a smoothie, when I do, I add 1/2 banana, 1/2 avocado, 1 cup plant-based milk, 1 handful of spinach and ice. If I need more liquid, I add water. The avocado makes it super creamy.
If you’re going to have this on it’s own and not going to make a smoothie, use either a mixture of water and the milk of your choice or straight milk. Because this is a super clean product, it does not have the powdered stabilizers added that are often in other products to make them seem creamier. Using plant based or dairy milk helps even the score.
