I have tried a lot of supplements in gummy form and I am frankly not that impressed with these. First the good news: The ingredient list is good, made in USA, with no artificial sweeteners or sugar alcohols. The price is also very competitive. These are all very good, important things.

But there is some bad news: When I opened the jar, all the gummies were stuck together. I mean really stuck, like I had to pry one off just to try it. I have occasionally had some gummies that were a little sticky in the bottle or jar, but this is the first time I’ve seen it this bad. At least they come in a wide mouth jar or else I would never be able to get them out.

As for the taste, they weren’t bad but they weren’t that great either. Usually I find supplemental gummies to be a real treat. These were just ok. But surprisingly, they didn’t stick to my teeth like they did in the jar.

Maybe they were on the delivery truck on a very hot day too long, and it was a fluke, I don’t know. It would be interesting to see if others had the same problem I had.

Open the container and two things are obvious: these gummies unmistakably contain beet root juice powder, so that the aroma and flavor of beets overwhelm the ostensible apple pomegranate flavoring. The other obvious observation is that these gummies are pectin based and not gelatin based. Pectin produces a slightly firmer, more jelly-like consistency, while gelatin features a somewhat softer, gel-like texture. Gelatin is derived from animal collagen while pectin is plant based and is more stable at higher temperatures. Gelatin can melt at higher temperatures, becoming a bit gooey. Pectin will remain stable and firmer, with the gummies retaining their shape, but they can clump together. My gummies arrived seriously clumped and required significant work to separate them.

With 60 gummies in each container, and a 2 gummy serving size, that equals a one month supply. Once I de-clumped my gummies (I know that sounds odd), they proved to be soft and easy to chew and swallow with no digestive issues. I ordered these beet root gummies for their possible heart health support and their antioxidant properties. Whether I can testify to their efficacy is difficult without using them for a greater length of time, but I found them helpful in improving my energy levels, which I attribute to their vitamin B content. In any case, beets have acquired a reputation as a “Superfood” according to reputable sources, so I am quite confident about taking these.

I am not sure how to rate this so I will speak in generalities and compare it to other gummy supplements than I have. First, I am super in favor of gummy vitamins and supplement. They feel like a treat and not a pill and I actually want to take them. These not so much.

First thing I noticed is opening the package and it was basically a big mass of stuck together gummies. And not just a little shake it loose stuck. I had to really pull them apart to separate them. I’ve never had that happen before. Usually, its 1 or 2 or maybe 3 get stuck together but this was a big ball. It is summer and pretty hot out so maybe that was the issue but still.

Next is the flavor. The pomegranate flavor of these leaves a bit to be desired. It does taste somewhat like it but not completely. I wonder if its due to beets having a strong flavor? Many of my other gummies supplements taste like peaches or raspberry or something and aren’t bad. This might need to strong fake pomegranate to cover the beets? If that’s the case, then maybe just embrace the beets and leave that as the flavor.

I can’t speak to the health benefits of these gummies directly. But beets are good for you and these seem to have good ingredients listed. The container and ad says the right things as well being made in the USA at a GMP manufacture. So, I will trust that these are good for you.

So I guess if you are looking for a beet supplement these might work for you if you are willing to pull them apart and ok with the pomegranatish flavor.

Don’t know what was in this, but it gave me hives.

I feel like with gummies there are two aspects to review: its success as a gummy and its success as a supplement. It’s harder, of course, to assess the latter, in most cases. With beets, you can go by taste and possibly urine color, but I think to be fair you would have to eat a real lot of gummies to get any change there. For taste, though, the beetroot really comes through with these. I’ve tried others where they taste more like candy than beets. Based on flavor in a supplement sense, these are five stars all the way. As gummies, though, they are a little dry, a little too chewy without being springy enough, if that makes sense, and generally not so great to chew. For the dryness, you can see some discoloration in the ends of some of the gummies in the image I posted. The second image is to show that I didn’t get old ones or anything; they’re just a bit dry. Again, they still taste good, so maybe it’s a good tradeoff. I, myself, would rather get active ingredient (beetroot, in this case) than have really good candy. I also really like that two gummies have only two grams of added sugar. Most gummies with added sugar have three, four, or more grams. So, bottom line, I think these are good supplements, but if the chew isn’t going to be great, why not just get tablets or bulk powder?

These beet root gummies really taste like beets. It gives the bottle a rather pungent smell, but you only have to put your nose in the bottle once to check it out. Then you can just enjoy the benefits. If you don’t eat enough vegetables, these gummies are a painless way to get more veggies in your diet. Beet root is high in antioxidants and there are reliable sources that say it may even lower your blood pressure. I see no down side to adding these gummies to your daily diet. Gummies have a shorter shelf life than most capsules, but these gummies should be good for about a year and a half.
