I bought this for my oily skinned hubby. It has really helped balance his skin. I was a little worried because so many of the other reviewers were using this on young skin. He is in his 50’s and it works great for him. Also, I was concerned about the smell after reading other reviews, but we really like it! It smells clean – herbal and slightly astringent – but overall, it just smells clean. To each, his own I suppose.
This is safe, natural soap. Natural soaps do not lather to the degree that chemical detergent laden soaps do. (I noticed this comment in several reviews too.) Many lathering agents found in common soaps, shampoos, toothpastes, etc. (Sodium Laurel Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, etc) are harmful to hair, skin and eyes and are believed to be carcinogenic. This contains NONE of that junk! You can pronounce everything in the ingredients list.
Very happy with this and all of the other Dr. Woods soaps we have tried.

I am a man with long hair and use it for both a body scrub and shampoo; this is now my second bottle, and although I was hesitant to switch, and glad I did. I was told about this from a co-worker who uses it for the body scrub, and whose fiancee uses it as a shampoo.
For my hair, it took a little bit of getting used to, when compared to commercial shampoos; your hair will feel weird, so I suggest getting your hair soaked before applying, and do a good rinse. My hair feels great and, doesn’t get oily as fast since I had switched from the commercial products with the silicone’s.
For using as a body scrub, my skin feels good and clean and I don’t get a reaction. Men’s body scrubs will cause my body to start to rash if I use them for more than a few days, which I think might be the perfumes they add, but this has not caused me any issues; so if you have a sensitive skin for cleaning agents with perfumes (such as having to use perfume/dye-free laundry detergents), this should help you with your skin. I scrub daily and have had no issues.
Its smell is earthy because it uses all natural ingredients and adds nothing to mask that; I love the smell and you will too. The bottle size is nice, and lasts me about two months. I think it would be nice for them to offer a half size of this, for those of you skeptical of buying the whole thing.

Cleansed so well removed all dirt and grime plus little blackhead on shoulders. Best liquid soap.

I am on my second bottle of this stuff and I have to say overall I am noticing an improvement in my skin tone. I am using this soap with Bio oil so I have noticed lightening of old scars ( nothing super dramatic but I noticed). I have had signicantly less back acne compared to before using this product.I have a lot of skin issues and break out constantly but since using this product I have not have many break outs on my body and none on my arms and legs ( which were my serious problem areas).
I do not use this on my face as I felt it was a little harsh on it. My face always felt super dry. I do not use this on my hair as I am African American with really curly hair and the consistency and smell of this product makes me weary of putting it on my head. Seems like it would leave you with a stripped feeling.
I am not a fan of the smell ( like wood) so I mix this with st ives oatmeal and shea body wash. I find it makes the smell less harsh and gives me a solid lather ( this product does not lather well on its own). I am going to continue using this product.
The shipping both times was great. I got the product before estimated delivery date, packaged well with no problems.

I’ve been buying this for years! It can be used for a body wash or simply a hand soap. My family loves this soap because it smells great, lathers well, and is a healthier soap to use on your skin. It’s also gentle enough for your face. My husband is particularly pleased with how well it works for a hand soap, and the smell is not too feminine at all. Just a good, clean smell! It lasts a long time and we feel the price is good for how much you get.

I’ve been using this product for about two years now, and I still find it wonderful. I always had pretty good skin, but a combination of stress and exposure to grease at work made me start breaking out. After trying a couple of scrubs from the store, I did a lot of research and started using Dr. Woods Black Soap in combination with Theyers Witch Hazel toner. My skin cleared up, and I haven’t had problems with it since. It is also the only product that keeps my skin clear around my period; if I get a pimple or two using this soap dries them out in just a couple of days. While I don’t use the toner all that often, I use this soap on my face twice a day every day.
It is a bit on the thin side, but it also foams up well on a loofah. I like the scent, since its not flowery and not heavy, and I don’t really notice it outside of the shower. I’ve had it noticed on me from very up close, and it was described as clean, which is nice and neutral.

I was sceptical due to the price but this is hands down the best shampoo, face wash and body wash I’ve ever tried. I’ve tried high end to low end of other products and this ones absolutely the best. Not harsh on hair and adds shine. Cleanses body and provides so much moisture. I mixed it with my merle norman face wash and it added moisture. It really does add volume to my hair. I’m very picky about my hair and seriously you will not regret this purchase. The bottle size to the written staton the bottle. To the the design and the texture of it including the fact that it’s all natrual and it smells like heaven? What else could anyone ask for? I mean this is a piece of heaven!

I love this stuff. Good soap, nice quality, pleasant but not overpowering smell. I feel clean, but don’t smell like the headache inducing potpourri smell that most soaps have.
