A good find! Excellent source of prebiotics that don’t get expelled, instead stay in your system as probiotic feeders.
The other ingredient I appreciate, that many might not know about is the Larch Bark Extract. My friend had the big illness in 2021 and her naturopath recommended Larch Bark extract and Colloidal Silver. She made a complete turn around. Since then, we have kept Larch Bark extract on hand. When our personal bubble becomes bigger in life, we usually take Larch Bark extract for about 3 days after just in case. It has been 2+ years and we have not been sick with that major sickness. Nor have we been sick with anything for years. (We are already grain and no sugar added free and work hard on our gut health, so that helps too.)
Dr. Davis recommends prebiotic starch with every meal and this is easy to put in coffee and smoothies. Also feeds reuteri yogurt when fermenting. Overall … a good find and I recommend it.

I bought this because I had read resistant starches help satiety and hunger. I put this in my cold brew and it was quite tasty. It is not supposed to have a flavor, but it made my cold brew taste like it had oat milk in it. It was a tad gritty. The one reason I will not be using this anymore… after about 6 hours, it created a lot of bloat and horrible smelling gas. I know, TMI. I wasn’t sure if it was this or something else, but I didn’t take this for a day and I was fine. Took it the next day and it happened again. Didn’t use it yesterday and again, I was fine. I can only contribute it to the resistant starch. I know not all digestive tracts work the same, so it may not happen to you but be aware!

I recently read about resistant starch and the possible benefits regarding blood glucose/insulin resistance and additional health benefits concerning digestive system and metabolic health. The nature of the resistant starch enhances the proper environment in the digestive system to sustain the gut microbiome. The Dr. Mercola brand has been around for a while, with a number of products, gaining a favorable reputation and following. So, this specific resistant starch complex was worth testing.
This product includes different resistant starches: Type 1, Organic Tigernut Flour; Type 2, Organic Green Banana Flour; Type 3, Organic Pregelatinized Potato Starch. (Another key ingredient: Organic ResistAid Arabinogalactan) Oddly, the full ingredient list is not provided on the product label; The product details states the ingredients: “Organic Resistant Starch, Organic Green Banana, Organic Pregelatinized Potato, Organic Tigernut, Tuber Flour, Organic ResistAid Arabinogalactan”.
There are 7g of Total Carbohydrates, with 2g of Dietary Fiber. So, that would indicate 5g of Total Sugars (which they conveniently do not list). You would expect a reasonable number of sugars in a starch powder product. I wish they didn’t omit this detail, though.
As directed on the label, and in online research, the best way to use this product is adding a serving to water or favorite drink, also easily consumed in oatmeal, yogurt or a smoothie. Recommended intake of resistant starches is 15 – 20 grams/daily to support digestive system/bowel health. Using this powder is a very convenient and easy means towards that goal.
Resistant starches “functions kind of like soluble fiber. Many studies in humans show that resistant starch can have powerful health benefits. This includes improved insulin sensitivity, lower blood sugar levels, reduced appetite and various benefits for digestion.” (online reference).
The label does display the badge for USDA Organic. This certification demonstrates the integrity of the ingredients, which checks off an important box for me.
The price of $25.50, including the current 15% discount coupon, presents this product as very competitively priced amongst comparable products. It’s a good value, especially for organic resistant starch powder.
Based on these considerations, this product earns a 4.5 – 4.75 star rating, with a high level recommendation.

I use this in protein shakes and smoothies. It is an easy-to-use way to add resistant starches to help support gut health. I can’t really say I have noticed a difference in my body from using this product but I also have noticed no ill effects from using it. I am hopeful that this is doing something but really have no way of knowing.

I’ve been reading more and more studies about the benefits of resistant starches. I decided to try Dr. Mercola Unflavored Organic variety. I was attracted by the USDA certified organic stamp. It is a nice even powder that has very little flavor. I have had no adverse effects or GI problems. It is not the easiest to dissolve so I add it to smoothies. I cannot even tell it’s in them. I feel like the price is fair given the quality organic ingredients. I will be buying it again as I feel like gut health is very important in overall health.

Too expensive for the product. The bag is very small.

I think this might have fixed the gut issues I was having for months. I don’t need to take this every day now, but it for sure helped when I was having some major issues.
