I used this probiotic along with two other probiotics to make a super SIBO yogurt that Dr William Davis has in his Super Gut book. The yogurt came out great with no issues. It makes a pleasant yogurt that is not tangy and thick like Greek yogurt. My first batch didn’t separate at all into curds and whey.

I bought this because of the book “Super Gut.” The author explains that this is the only source of this particular strain of probiotic in the US. As the book suggests, I used one of these to start a yogurt culture. It went ok, but then I let the yogurt go bad and needed to start over. It was only a couple of weeks later, but the powder in the capsules had become rock-hard. And I don’t live in a humid climate. I broke up the brick of material that came out of the capsule and used it anyway. The yogurt came out super-runny and turned “off” after just a few days. I wrote the company, and their response was “Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee the effectiveness of the product if it’s used differently than directed, and we sincerely apologize if this causes any inconvenience. We’re here to help,….” Ha! Good one, Mercola Market. You lost my business forever. Most folks who just ingest these “as directed” are probably unaware that they are going bad.

A milk test (making yogurt) should be preformed on all probiotic products. I purchased this particular product because I wanted the L. Gasseri strain BNR17. With 1/4 cup of milk, 1/8 tsp of inulin, and a single 10 billion CFU capsule; I expect to have yogurt in ~4 hours. However in 4 hours very little yogurt was made. The picture is at 12 hours which made decent yogurt. I got the best yogurt at 40 hours with a bigger batch I made later. I am disappointed in the potency of this product, however I have very little choice in products if I want to get the strain BNR17.

I didn’t need much to make my yogurt. Wish it came in smaller size. A bit pricy too. But good product.

I got it a few days ago. I used only 1 capsule and a small amount of organic whole milk to yield some yogurt, then used this as a starter to make a big batch of L gasseri yogurt. The yogurt was made in instant pot due, after 10 hours it was already ready to eat. 36 hours must be too long for this batch. The yogurt tastes very nice! So it was a big success — from one capsule to a pot of yummy superfood yogurt. I didn’t use anything else such as the Inulin powder, only organic whole milk. I recommend this product for L gasseri highly.
