Douglas Labs is a trusted brand and recommended by my endocrinologist. My endo recommended I take DHEA after bloodwork came back low. I have experienced increased energy, a bit more focus and most notably better muscle strength and recovery. I have chronic Adrenal Insufficiency (Addison’s) and also a woman in my fourties so my hormones are completely out of whack and I’m always exhausted. For the last several years, anytime I would work out, I would pay for it the next day and I never seemed to be able to build muscle. In taking just 10 mg a day, I can notice a considerable amount of strength in my muscles. I have experienced an pimple or or two here and there but nothing to keep me from taking this. I was worried about facial hair but haven’t experienced any issues with that. No issues with weight gain, I think it would help with weight loss, having more energy and strength to work out. Only down side or unfavorable side effect would be irritability; less patience with people. It’s very subtle at only 10 mgs a day, but would imagine if I increased the dose it would be more prominent. I take the 10mgs in the morning, and sometimes another 2.5 or 5 mgs in the late afternoon if I plan to work out after work or stay up late.
Update April 2020- my new doctor suggested I switch to Design for Health. Mainly because he sells this brand out of his office. All I can say is Douglas Labs is far more superior. The other brand did not do anything. Hands down Douglas Labs DHEA is the best. I feel it working within 30 mins of taking it. Also, I recently discovered that many low estrogen symptoms are similar to low testosterone symptoms. I was trying to alleviate symptoms with estrogen and progestin balancing creams with little success. I had stopped taking DHEA for a month or so. mainly I forgot, was depressed and not working out as much due to pandemic. Anyway after researching and learning that low estrogen and low testosterone symptoms are similar for women, I broke out my bottle of Douglas Labs DHEA. I took 10 mgs and within 30 mins symptoms of pain, exhaustion, and dryness were gone. I highly recommend any woman are suffering from peri/menopausal issues to talk to your doctor about adding in DHEA. For me, it seems to be the missing link. That along with Progest, and Omega 7.

At full dose, this gave me hot flashes. I’m on HRT due to a complete hysterectomy 15 years ago. Haven’t experienced hot flashes before, so I knew this was to blame. I decided to take half dose & the hot flashes stopped. I am small – 5’ tall, 120lbs, so it’s possible the dose was just too high for me. I still believe I could have positive effects, so I’m continuing to take until gone. On the positive, they’ll last twice as long. So good value.

I read some reviews/did some research before purchasing and found this brand to meet the criteria for what I wanted – variable dosing, micronized, from a reputable supplier (since supplements are not regulated, although I’m not sure what good that would do given the poor/inconsistent quality of regulated generic prescription meds). And affordable.
WINNER!
It works. Shooed away some of my brain fog. Helped revive libido. Improved energy levels. Improved overall sense of well-being.
HISTORY AND EVIDENCE OF BENEFIT OF THIS PRODUCT:
I’m already on HRT, using gel estrogen (massive improvement over pill form for me; brand works better than generic, but brand is $$$). Also using Intrarosa to keep things healthy in the southern regions. Am absolutely making the increased co-pay for that since it was a 1000% improvement over cream estrogen. It also has a DHEA type component.
But while the HRT adjustments showed improvement, it wasn’t quite enough. Still had too much brain fog for my liking, was still carrying the post-hysterectomy weight gain, and still just leggy.
QUICK RESULTS WITH THIS DHEA
It only took a couple of days to see the improvement with ONE dose of this DHEA.
Energy returned, clarity of thought, and reduction in PMS (awful issue of hysterectomy is that you still get PMS, which had gotten much worse in recent years).
I can tell the days I miss taking my dose. It makes that big of a difference.
IT *IS* A LARGE PILL TO TAKE SUBLINGUAL
Being impatient, I snap mine into quarters and shove those under my tongue so I don’t have to wait so long. Some days I just quarter it and take it with water, although SL route would work better. They could improve this aspect a bit, but it’s not a deal-breaker. Not much of a taste to it.
MORE DOESN’T ALWAYS EQUAL BETTER
Have had a couple PMS days where I took two doses, one later in the day, and it did improve everything (energy, focus, not screaming at people using leaf blowers) but I also didn’t sleep as well those nights.
I had taken DHEA (non-micro) before and it just gave me a headache and additional brain fog, so I wanted to start slow with this dose and move up only as needed. That approach worked well for me.

SEEMS TO HELP ALL OTHER MEDS WORK AS THEY SHOULD
I struggle – really STRUGGLE – w ADHD, which had gotten worse in peri-menopausal years. Plus other conditions put a ceiling on the dose I could take. Plus-plus, when you could find it, generic ADHD meds (from multiple manufacturers) have been absolutely all over the map in terms of consistency, mainly in their ratios of levo to dextro, meaning on the levo-heavy batches you might end up feeling more “hummingbird” and on the dextro-heavy batches you might do a lot of sitting and thinking or just sitting. Did they lose their mixer or their measuring spoons down at the factory? It’s bizarre, for sure, and variability isn’t something someone with ADHD necessarily needs in the product they’re taking to REDUCE variability in their lives.
I finally labeled my Rx bottles each month and kept them separate so that I could use the Feb levo-heavy leftovers (and there were def leftovers – jeez, some days 6 hours of hummingbird-ing is enough!) to get my brain organized enough to do stuff on “sit/stew” days, and kept those March dextro-heavy “sit/stew” leftovers to allow productivity on more “hummingbird” kind of days. That actually seems to work. Who knew you’d need a sommelier for a prescription med that’s supposed to be the same every time but most definitely is not the same, ever? I appreciate the other 101 variables factoring in here, but after taking these meds for 14 years, this is not in my head and it’s not all outside factors – the meds just are not consistent at all.
DHEA – DEFINITELY HELPING ADHD & ADHD MEDS-
Despite the aforementioned issues, the DHEA seems to do a good job of “holding hands” with the ADHD meds and at the very least, help you keep out of the other-issue-oriented brain fog long enough to self-assess what you need to do/take get things done. Also seems to help me calm my anxiety a bit, which also usually helps decision making.

Have had a good experience thus far on the first bottle and hope it continues. Will stick with this brand/format if it continues to help as much as it has so far. Very happy and very grateful.

I had a dream that led me to look up this product. I had the impression before that I might be low in testosterone which was weird to me being a woman so dismissed it.
After my dream I knew I needed to start it. After reading the information on testosterone in women being lower after 40 and the symptoms that go along with it being too low, I knew I needed to start taking it.
I came across this product and liked that it is low dose. After all being a woman I realize I am not going to need a massive dose.
After reading the reviews first and one mentioning it was like Viagra for women I knew I found my match. Plus, I want to conceive and found out testosterone being low can affect fertility.
Let me say that I never write reviews but had to for this. Only 3 days on it and I feel like something inside of me woke up again. I feel like I did in my 20s! The increase in my libido is amazing and I look and feel slimmer. Not sure if that is a result of it too but I’ll take it! My husband is sooo happy too for obvious reasons!
