While I enjoy using this creamy cleanser, it arrived only half full. The pump mechanism had disengaged from the small bottle and much of the contents had spilled out. The bottle is metal and was dented, so it is obvious that this item had some rough handling in shipping, but I am not sure why the pump and top separated completely from the body.
The envelop in which the cleanser came, full of the product, had a strong perfumy smell– the first clue that this cleanser contains a distinct fragrance. I actually like the smell—a bit baby-powdery, perhaps. But it verges on initially being too intense for me. The intensity of the perfumy smell contrasts with the mildness of the cleanser itself. I like the fact that it doesn’t rely on lather to clean, but that it goes on more like a rich lotion to remove the make-up, sunscreen, and grime of the day. My skin does not feel stretched or tight after use as it does with many foamy cleansers.
The bottle is small, but a little of this goes a long way. I do not have to fill my hand with cleanser to apply it to my face. A half pump will do. It feels luxurious and leaves my face hydrated. Since it does have a distinctly strong though pleasing fragrance, it might make a nice gift for a non-vegan someone who is not sensitive to scents.

This goat milk cleanser feels very gentle on the face (face feels clean and not dried out). I like that it’s cruelty-free and made with clean ingredients.
Scent: light scent that fades away after wash
Consistency: a bit more on the watery side, pretty lightweight (more gel than cream)
The product arrived without any leakage. There was just a small dent on the can, but otherwise everything was intact.
Shrimp –
This cleanser is marketed as being good for oily skin, which I have had for 20 some years, I’ll say off the bat it’s not going to do anything to change that.
The good: I like this for the morning, it is non-stripping and leaves the skin feeling soft and not tight. Glucose and the cleansing glucocides are great for hydration. Even if you have oily skin you don’t want to strip moisture from the skin, that will just make your skin over compensate with more oil!
I personally really like the scent, it’s very pleasing kind of green apple smell. It may not be for everyone, it does have a kind of hand soap/lotion quality to the smell. I do think it is strange to use all the “clean” beauty buzzwords but include this much fragrance, if you are sensitive to fragrance I would avoid.
The not-so-good: I don’t find this to be deep cleansing or oil reducing. The word “purifying” is not meaningful in skincare, there’s not “toxins” that are going to be cleansed from your face. Kaolin clay sounds good in theory but it won’t do anything for the minute or so it takes to wash your face, it would be more useful in a mask. It’s not a strong cleanser, I’m a double cleanse gal and I don’t feel like it was enough to cleanse makeup and oil as well as I like.
The packaging needs some work as well. I didn’t have leakage issues like many others but the aluminum bottle was dented. I like aluminum over plastic as it’s more easily recycled, but they need a little padding or something in the box.
The biggest downside to me is the value, this is a very small bottle for a cleanser for a pretty high price point. It doesn’t feel expertly formulated, there’s just a lot of marketing buzzwords. It kind of has a vibe of something you’d get at either an “old country store” type gift shop or a health food store.

Jest –
My bottle of Purifying Cleanser arrived and here’s the rundown:
– Bottle leaked into the box. The pump was closed and locked and screwed almost all the way on, no apparent reason for this to happen.
– Attempting to turn the pump and open it (pop up the pump) led nowhere. The pump just spun in place and could not be used because it would not unlock.
– I unscrewed the cap/pump entirely to access the cleanser. I fiddled with the pump to try to get it to pop up at this point and it still just spun in place.
-The cleanser is okay. I think it has a pleasant scent. It does not foam up which can take getting used to if you’ve never used a similar cleanser. I applied and then wiped off with a warm wet washcloth (highly recommend a muslin washcloth if you haven’t discovered these yet). My skin felt clean without feeling dry, which is always nice from a cleanser. However nothing special here in my opinion.
– I reassembled the pump & bottle at this point and fiddled some more. It *finally* unlocked (no idea what changed) but it was clear that the leakage into the box comes from the point where the pump enters the cap, since the entire neck of the pump was covered in cleanser when it finally popped up. There was also a lot of dried cleanser there which I think was preventing the pump from unlocking. Basically it just sealed itself shut.
Needs a better quality pump at this price point. There’s no excuse for the leakage and inability to get it open. I’ve had dozens of pumps shipped to me via Amazon and I’ve never as much problem as I did with this one – typically if I have a minor leak it is with a much thinner product (like a body oil).
Price seems a little high in relation to the size of the bottle as well.

This is more or less fragrance free. Goes on thicker, similar to soap consistency once applied.

I use this cleanser as a second wash after my cleansing oil, and it feels gentle while still purifying the skin. It’s free of harmful ingredients and leaves my face feeling clean and protected. It’s a pleasant cleanser to use and definitely worth trying!
