Classic cherry cough drops without sugar. They work well and taste as good as any cough drop. Serving size is two which is odd as they are too large to suck on two at once.

Does it’s job and does it well, the only thing I can speak out against is the fact that it contains red 40 – there is absolutely no reason to put an artificial dye in a product that adults are taking. The product doesn’t need to be pretty, it just needs to work – thankfully it does and it doesn’t taste all to bad either, but please: remove the unnecessary dye.

I recently caught a cold and was happy to have Diabetic Tussin Sore Throat Lozenges on hand since I’ve been dry coughing. I’m thrilled that it doesn’t contain sugar, so I’m not worrying about tooth decay while using a lozenge. The initial cherry flavor is sweet but very bitter, but after a minute or two, it really helped, and I was able to get used to the bitterness. I also like that this is made by Medtech Products Inc, which is under the Prestige Brands banner (their other well-known brands include Chloraseptic, Dramamine, Clear Eyes, etc), so I feel confident in the safety of this product. At $4.49 for 15 lozenges, this is a solid value.

These lozenges are about as close to perfect as any diabetic is going to find. With my wife having Type 1 and an already weaker immune system, she suffers from a sore throat a few times a year, so I was glad to find some sugar-free sore throat drops for her.
As for the taste, these are excellent. It’s a somewhat bitter cherry flavor that’s not too overpowering or underwhelming. I personally really like it. These also don’t leave the film in your mouth that many similar products do, which is a very welcomed attribute.
In addition to the great taste, they work well. I can’t say the effects really last a full four hours, but I think that is a limitation of the active ingredient, not this particular product. The only true qualm I have with these is the addition of red #40, which is totally unnecessary in any food application.
I really appreciate that they didn’t charge more just because it’s diabetic or “specialty.” All in all, this is a good product for a great price and I do recommend it, even if a little hesitant on the dye.

These do work … maybe not up to the 4 hours claimed … but if you have a cough and/or sore throat, these will numb the throat a bit while alleviating the cough. In the fall and winter, when post nasal drip often causes coughing, I always keep throat lozenges in my laptop case because coughing a lot in work meetings is a big concern of mine.
As for the ingredients … let’s just say I wish there was no Red No. 40 (which Europe requires a warning label for) or Blue No. 1 food dyes contained. I won’t go into why but if you do your research, you’ll see. Sadly, very few cough medication is free of these. Sucralose as a sugar substitute I am not as concerned about … however it does give that unpleasant sugar substitute taste.
You aren’t expecting candy when you use cough drops but these are fairly rough from a taste standpoint. It’s kind of like eating fake cherries sprinkled with menthol. Your mouth will not taste good for an hour, at least, after using one of these … so leave some time between lunch if you can.
While I like that they contain no sugar, the taste and combo of food dyes used will likely make me reach for something more organic in the future. Having said that, they are likely much more effective and numbing than something a little healthier, so if function is important, you may reach for these. Tussin is a brand name and I always choose brand name over generic as I find it always works better. I hope my honest review was helpful to you.
