You get what you pay for, and this is a premium fish oil supplement. The 1:1 DHA to EPA ratio is a safe bet and the amount per serving are more than adequate while with other brands, I often find their DHA/EPA content insufficient for daily needs (our bodies don’t produce fatty acids). Researchers generally recommend 500mg a day of DHA/EPA for healthy individuals, and 1000mg for those with heart conditions. One serving of OmegAvail has 1500 DHA/EPA.
I’ve been taking fish oil supplements for a couple years now, getting my omega 3s in either through capsules, liquid, and even powdered form. I find that the liquid form (albeit the most unpleasant to get down), is the one that gives me the greatest relief for my arthritis. Fortunately, the majority of supplement companies have caught up with the times and fish burps/unappealing aftertastes are, for the most part, a thing of the past. Designs for Health’s omega 3 liquid is no different. If anything, there is more of a refreshing lemon flavor than fish to this supplement. However there is still a fishy taste to it as it would be ‘fishy’ if there were absolutely no hint of such given this is a fish oil supplement. I’ll put it to you this way. Would I drink it for the sake of my own enjoyment? No. Is it difficult or even an inconvenience for me to get my serving in? Also no.
Omega 3s are one of the most researched compounds and study after study have supported the health benefits they can provide. Everyone and their grandma are taking some form of fish oil supplement, and with good reason! I got this for my daughter-in-law, and the following is her review:
I am an avid fan of all Designs for Health products, so it is no surprise that this liquid fish oil has high potency and quality ingredients. It is not your average Omega 3 fish oil dosage, as it has high concentrations of both EPA and DHA in it. There is 1500mg of each in each dose (1 teaspoon). The product does not taste bad, which makes it even more fantastic! There is no fishy flavor like you would expect from a fish oil supplement but instead has a light lemon flavor. It has to be refrigerated after opening, so keep that in mind. It is a pricey fish oil supplement, but you are paying for a product made with your health in mind. It has been filtered and tested for purity by looking at pesticides, solvents, PCB, and other contaminants. 5 Stars.

I really struggled with taking this, unfortunately it’s not for me. The lemon flavoring is great. It really does work well to nearly completely prevent aftertaste and nasty belching that one even gets from capsules. For those of you considering this but have not taken a fish oil that wasn’t encapsulated, I would encourage you to buy the brand’s capsules instead. They still have the lemon and it’s more palatable. My problem was the texture and the temperature. It does need to be refrigerated so having it be cold made it harder for me to take it. There’s just that moment with the cloying texture I can’t do.
I believe the company has quality products and the dosage and ease is so great. I will have to be inventive and find out how to use this up. Since it’s oil it does not mix with water based drinks as it just sits on top. I believe a smoothie would be okay.
This product is more expensive than I typically would spend on a supplement. There are other brands of capsules that use lemon to prevent aftertaste. This company is relying on the quality of their ingredients and the size of the bottle for pricing. For those looking to start high quality fish oil I’d recommend their capsules. For those who don’t mind the texture and slight taste this seems very high quality. The brown bottle and directions to refrigerate mean they know what they’re doing.

This fish oil Omega 3 supplement is excellent. I am a long time user of another fish oil supplement that comes in capsules, so using a liquid fish oil supplement is new to me, and I approached it with a bit of reservation since I was unsure of how this would taste or go down. It has been fantastic! The flavor isn’t as all “fishy” – it’s very mild with a hint of lemon, and I love that this supplement doesn’t irritate my stomach at all. At the same time, I have noticed a substantial effect from taking this, which tells me that my body is better able to access the nutrients in this supplement as opposed to the previous fish oil I was taking (meaning, this supplement has greater bio-availability!)
You do have to refrigerate this after opening, but I refrigerate other supplements, so for me that isn’t a big deal to do or to remember. I will definitely be continuing this one. Five stars and more for this excellent supplement! Highly recommend.

I have been using liquid fish oils with my kids and dog (he have severe allergies and was told high dose of fish oils will help) and this by far is the best we have used so far.
If you never use a liquid fish oil make sure you refrigerate it after opening, the labels are often written in the tiniest font possible and not sure why is that.
This fits not only our needs but also our dog’s need, some liquid fish oils have xylitol on it so my dog can’t take it.
The quality of the oil in this product is clearly noticeable from the oil looks and smell.
No fish burp and I noticed that my dog’s itchiness have lessen the 1st week of taking this. I know this is pricey but a vet visit + medications and shot coz way more than this bottle so this is something that is worth for all of us.
Easy to swallow and doesn’t make us gag like some flavored fish oil.
I noticed less pain and inflammation after a week of taking this. I usually take this at night an hour before bed with a cup of warm water, as I always think when you take oil it’s best to have warm liquid to take it with for better absorption.
