After consistent daily use, the Dynamic Defense Duo lives up to its claims. I used the Retinol Face Serum in the evening. It has reduced some fine lines and improved my skin texture. Formula-wise, both products absorb quickly and don’t leave a greasy residue. The moisturizer moisturizes without feeling heavy and leaves my skin feeling soft and supple. The 50 SPF is also a nice plus.

In this package you receive a bottle of retinol cream and then a smaller bottle of SPF 50. With retinol, it is ALWAYS a MUST to use SPF during the daytime. Whether you are using retinol in the evenings Only, or choose to use it in the daytime/mornings as well!
This particular retinol directs that it can be used in the daytime and/or at night. It is gentle enough to be used either way-in my opinion. I have used prescription retinol-Tretinoin-and I’ve used Many different brands-High-end and Lower-End, Retinols.
This one is probably one of the best higher end Retinols I’ve ever used! When you apply it, it is SUPER gentle! I’ve used it everyday now for several weeks. My skin does NOT peel at all and, this works well with my other skincare products and lays perfectly Under Primers/Makeup! This has NO scent/fragrance. And, I do think you get a very decent amount of product in the bottle! The pump dispenses properly/nicely.
The SPF 50 is also very very nice. I do not like that they give you such a small bottle of it though. That really makes zero sense to me. I think it should at least be the same size/ounces as the retinol bottle is. But, it is what it is. The SPF is scent/fragrance free. It is gentle and absorbs into skin quickly and gently. Has ZERO white cast! Does NOT burn my face/eyes either! Lots of SPFs run into my eyes throughout the daytime and burn really badly. This one does not!
This spf gives your skin a nice glow to it actually and lays under primers/makeup very well! Does NOT pill!
I noticed an improvement in my skin using these products right away! The retinol gives your skin an immediate glow and healthy look within the first 48 hours of using it! And, your skin feels softer and exfoliated without ‘hurting/burning’ skin at all!

I am giving these product 4 stars instead of 5 though simply due to the price. I know this is a reputable higher end skincare brand. But, I do think the $98+ price tag is steep. Yes, I know it’s retinol. But, I have a prescription retinol-Tretinoin-that I pay out of pocket for at the pharmacy that cost less than this one does. It’s obviously a higher/stronger percentage too, than this one because it is prescription. I realize there are usually cost associated with visiting the dermatologist for most people, too. Luckily, my insurance does cover my office visit with the dermatologist. But, I just feel it is slightly overpriced. Does it work-YES! Both products in this package WORK! And they work well! I’d just like to see the cost maybe $20-25 cheaper. And/OR the SPF to be a bigger bottle instead of so small, for the $98+ price tag.
Otherwise, I do HIGHLY recommend this/these skincare items! I feel they are both great for ALL skin types! Even very sensitive skin! This retinol is super effective while staying super gentle for skin!! Highly recommend!!!!!!

This Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Retinol Serum duo packs a lot of power in two little bottles. This duo includes a 1-ounce bottle of Dynamic Skin Retinol Serum and a 0.5 ounce bottle of Dynamic Skin Recovery 50 SPF. The Dynamic Skin Retinol Serum contains a 3.5% retinoid complex (with 3 retinols), squalane, and beta-glucan. The bottle states that it’s a “high-dose wrinkle serum.” It is a rich creamy serum that goes a very long way on the face, on cleansed skin. It’s to be used every night. It feels great and is easy to apply.
The Dynamic Skin Recovery is the cream that is to be applied in the daytime. You need to add it 15 minutes before you go out in the sun, everywhere you placed the retinol cream the night before. The medium-weight cream has 50 SPF and is just what you need after using retinol cream. It is an *excellent* sunscreen lotion.
Honestly, this is a fantastic duo. The retinol serum is super-effective, easy on the skin (I had no redness after applying it, that night or the next day), and I love its quality. The protective cream/sunscreen is spectacular. I have looked for such a long time for a high-powered facial SPF and haven’t found anything like this. It is just the strength of SPF I want, it has no scent, and it feels amazing. Great duo of products.

I love using this retinol face serum and moisturizer skin care set. The serum feels great on my skin and doesn’t cause any irritation. After using the retinol, I can see it improve my overall skin texture. It’s nice that the duo also includes a SPF set because it’s important to use SPF while using this. Both of the liquids are nice and absorb easily into my face.

The retinol appears to be working on my 79-year-old skin. I can’t expect miracles at my age, but I’ve used Dermologica products for decades, most of which I have stayed with. I need to use the retinol serum more regularly and give it time, but I’d recommend it. It’s pricey but not the “out of my league” costs of the real premium lines. Dermologica works for me.

I ordered this for my mom and she likes it so far. No allergic reaction observed, and it helps with wrinkles. She also uses it as sunscreen. The only complaint I have is the price.

I use this product every day and have for 10 years. The texture is light and creamy. I don’t leave my home without it on my face. I use the retinol cream every other night so I don’t peel. You cannot go wrong with Dermalogica!
