Note: I have bought & paid full price for the product.
I am over 49 (male). I’ve used Ginkgo Biloba off and on since 1995, from 30 to 60mg’s of the popular brands out there (standardized 24% and 6% lactones). If the quality is poor, I’ll get a headache within an hour and I’ll start to get brain-fog after 3 to 4 hours .
Nootropics Depot’s (ND) Ginkgo is a very unique product. First of all it works and it works really well. Compared to other brands I’d say it has a very clean effect overall on my memory/cognitive function. It seems to work without me knowing it’s there. I’ve been taking ND brand for a 3 weeks now and I am very pleased with the results.
The cost of ND Ginkgo vs others is less in the long run. The quality is pure grade.
Now more specifically about my experience. I can now recall things I did several weeks ago, all the way to childhood in great detail. I feel more present and lighter. Sometimes, I can even recall things from years ago, probably like a photographic memory. And this is on half a tablet daily (60mg). All of that gradually vanishes if I don’t take Ginkgo (most days I take it with Bacopa and sometimes Fish Oil as well). ND’s Brahmi/Bacopa also has a similar effect on me. ND Bacopa is also a novel molecule.
ND’s Ginkgo gives me a clear, calm focus that lasts around 8 hours, give or take. I don’t feel the need for coffee or tea anymore but I do take a cup of tea in the morning anyway. My performance at work has also improved as a product manager, remembering distributed information in our system, knowledge of multiple products, user stories, development timelines, process issues etc. has improved tremendously on this Ginkgo, even effortlessly.
Consolidation of information (along with Bacopa) is awesome too. I can understand and comprehend information more easily and can think of how to use that information in other areas. I also have vivid dreams, and the ability to remember my dreams the following day. This Ginkgo calms my mind yet keeps me sharp. It has a powerful anti-inflammatory effect on the whole body & brain on its own, probably because of its standardized 10% Kaempferol content, which I haven’t seen in any other product.
Stopping/curbing inflammation itself vastly improves cognitive function. Ginkgo also activates DNA repair enzymes and lowers high prolactin in men, normalizing & improving Testosterone as a good side effect.
Ginkgo and Bacopa are also very powerful antioxidants, if they are made clean and pure, like ND does.
I wish they come out with pure Vinpocetine soon (another remarkable & novel natural product for over all brain function, improves communication between right & left brain hemispheres) in a 90 count (10 mg capsule) bottle (for an affordable price).
To sum it up, I am sticking with this brand. It works, it’s a brand I now trust because of its pure quality, and because ND’s customer support is very responsive if I have an issue or a question.
Thanks for All the Fish –
I have been trying different brands of Ginkgo Biloba off and on for the past several years. I initially figured it would help with what it is most known and advertised for, which is memory issues.
Not that I had any major issues with recalling things, but as middle age approached, I did begin to experience a few “senior moments” beyond the usual misplacement of car keys that had me mildly concerned. As far as the specific incidents…I don’t remember.
Anyway, I never really noticed it having much positive benefit when it came to helping me not to forget things, but instead had other effects I failed to consider. Since Ginkgo is a mild vasodilator and increases blood flow to the capillaries of the body, it should follow that that the elevation in circulation would go everywhere and not just to the brain, which is what is supposed to be the action responsible for protecting mental recollection. Simply put, it gave me slightly more energy by acting as a weak stimulant as well as improving circulation to areas far from the brain (do I need to spell it out for you?). For us aging guys, who not old enough to have actual issues, but also old enough to acknowledge it has been a while when it came to those spontaneous, out-of-nowhere, called to the blackboard moments, this came as quite as a surprise. I had discovered Ginkgo did have benefits, just not the ones it is generally touted for.
The product contains 90 pills, which taking one a day will last 3 months, though I admit I sometimes take two a day. The pills are small tablets (more like pellets) and super-easy to swallow. Since they are not meant to be chewed, a rating for “flavor” makes no sense and I doubt they would taste very good at any rate, especially given they have an odor similar to a stale cigar or pipe, as best as I can describe it. I have noticed pretty much the same effects and at the same intensity as all the other Ginkgo products I have tried, so they do work, but no better or worse than competing ones.
I will continue to use them for a few more weeks and then cycle off, finishing the bottle later. This I feel is necessary due to the fact Ginkgo, because of its mechanism of increasing circulation, can also work to thin the blood and considering I also regularly take fish oil supplements and sometimes plain aspirin, I do not wish to bleed out when I make an oopsie while shaving my face. So, while I think Ginkgo has benefits, I also don’t think it should be used over a long period.
In conclusion, I would recommend the product though not necessarily for the reason of memory increase or protection, but of those side benefits mentioned, particularly for my aging fellow dudes. While it won’t take the place of prescription products and not meant for major issues, but just might give you a little more energy for workouts in the gym or a little extra, spontaneous, something-something for workouts in other non-gym locations with that special person in your life.
Customer Review –
I’m pleased with this supplement. I take it for cognitive support. It’s one of the better-studied nootropics out there, as the ginkgo tree has been used in medicine for thousands of years. And Nootropics Depot is one of the most reputable brands in the nootropics and supplements space, with some of the most rigorous in-house lab testing. Like other products I’ve had from Nootropics Depot, this is very fresh and potent.
The tablets are easy to take and I like that they are scored for easy splitting.
An important tip for anyone thinking of trying ginkgo for the very first time: Please check with your doctor if you have any blood disorders or are on any kind of blood medication. Ginkgo may act as a blood thinner, which may not be right for you.

Just started taking these. Don’t know if they work quite yet. However, I know this company hasn’t been around for many years with good reputation in their circles. It makes supplements And I do have to say this is my second supplement from them and these are the tiniest pills or supplements I’ve ever come across
