I love makeup and am always on the lookout for effective lower priced makeup. I love lip oils and have tried many different brands but when I saw that Colourpop had released a lip oil I had to give it a try. I chose the color Bengal because it is the closest to my favorite brand of CT lipstick. This lip oil glides on smoothly via a doe foot applicator. It has a sheer but visible tint. It hydrates my lips without feeling sticky and heavy. As always I am very impressed with the Colourpop brand.

This is perfect for a light tint. It’s not too sticky and I feel like the color lasts for quite some time. I would definitely purchase again. The color isn’t too red or pinky, which is nice.

I received this lip oil in the shade Skinny Dip, which is a sheer light nude color, which I like because it will work with most makeup looks, especially warmer ones in the summer months.
First of all I have to mention the scent- I couldn’t find any information about any fragrance included in the lip oil, or if it was meant to smell like something in particular- but to my nose this lip oil smells like anise/black licorice. It fades a little after application but if it’s an intentional smell it’s definitely an interesting choice for a scent. I do have a nose that’s somewhat sensitive to scents and smells so it’s possible it’s fainter to other people that they don’t notice it. If you’ve got a sensitive nose like me it’s just something worth considering!
The doefoot applicator is thin and long, it has a lot of give when you press it against your lips. As a matter of personal preference this is not my favorite type of applicator but it does the job fine. I do sometimes feel like I need to put the wand back in the tube and apply more. On the lips it feels like a cross between an oil and a gloss. Not as slippy as an oil, and it doesn’t move or migrate from my lips after applying like an oil might. It’s got a pleasant cushioned feeling against my lips, and I definitely notice my lips feel hydrated during and after use. It doesn’t feel sticky or gloopy, and I personally like that it leaves a thin protective layer of product on my lips. Definitely comfortable to use.
My favorite way to apply such a sheer color is with a slightly darker lip liner and then to go in with this lip oil after. Since I chose such a light shade I can’t speak to how pigmented the others are. The shade skinny dip provides a sheer wash of light nude color that blends in with my natural lip color for an easy to wear every day color which is exactly what I was hoping for.

I was fairly neutral on this lip tint for awhile – it’s a pretty subtle color, so it didn’t do much for me. But then I went on a weekend trip and forgot to bring chapstick. I was looking for anything to use for my poor lips, and tried this in desperation – and it ended up being just as moisturizing as my chapstick! So now I’m in love!
