We absolutely love a good collagen powder to put in our morning coffee. We looked forward to using this one because of the ingredients and overall quality they seemed to profess.
The problem is that when you compare this to other supposedly similar products on the market, this one misses the mark. You can usually scoop your collagen, put it into coffee and it quickly dissolves with just a bit of stirring. Not this one. It stays clumped at the top and then starts to get stuck to the spoon when stirring.
Given the number of products on the market, this is an unacceptable “first world problem” of having to spend the extra time to stir it to dissolve, so therefore I recommend other products that are very similar – yet much more dissolvable.

This is an awesome collagen supplement. It arrived quickly and well packaged. It dissolves super easily into my coffee. There is no taste to it or odor. It mixes well into liquids and I plan on using it in baking as well. I haven’t noticed any negative side effects.

This is a plain, unflavored collagen. There are so many brands of collagen out there with weird flavors and stevia added, but I like that this is plain. I know that people say that collagen has no taste, but I find that this brand, like other brands, has a slightly beefy flavor and mild umami taste, like MSG. The glutamic acid in it is the same as the glutamic acid in MSG, but without the sodium, so it makes sense that it enhances savory foods the same way.
The jar was packed almost totally full when I opened it. I had to dig out the scoop with a spoon. I appreciate the efficient packaging.
The label suggests adding it to soup, which is the best use of collagen, I think. There are a lot of other brands of collagen that taste the same as this, that suggest adding it to juice or fruit smoothies, which I think would taste weird. Beefing up soup with extra protein and umami flavor makes much more sense. Here’s a photo of it in plain hot water, before I added other ingredients to make soup. The powder completely dissolves, leaving the broth perfectly clear, and enhancing the meaty, satisfying taste. You can’t taste the photo of course, but see how it looks similar to beef broth? It tastes similar too, but without the salt. Used like this, it isn’t a supplement to tolerate, it’s a food to enjoy.

We’ve been using collagen peptides in tea for some time. I was disappointed with this brand. It does not dissolve well in hot tea. I stirred and smushed globs with the spoon for about a minute before taking the included picture, but there was still undissolved product remaining. Almost imperceptible smell and taste. It will be fine in smoothies and other applications where dissolving isn’t an issue.

About three months ago, I was offered a free 23.29oz jar of VeraWella Collagen Peptides for review via the Amazon Vine Program, and I accepted.
I’ve been using various brands of collagen peptides for over three years – mostly type I & III. I can’t be 100% clinically certain, but collagen peptides seem to have done a lot of good for the health of my gut – so I’m definitely a fan.
The VeraWella Collagen Peptides arrives in a resealable 23.29oz plastic jar. I prefer plastic jars over bags for collagen peptides as they offer the easiest, fuss-free usage as collagen peptides go airborne very easily. There is a fairly standard plastic serving scoop in the jar.
This is a type I & III collagen peptides powder. There really isn’t any info on the label as to where this product is manufactured. It also does not list the nation of origin of the cattle. There are also no certifications whatsoever. Only in Amazon product description does it say “sourced from grass fed, pasture raised and finished cows,” but cows from where? Many other collegen peptides products I’ve reviewed list this information and have various certifications. The fact that this collegen does not is concerning.
Probably unlike most people who add collagen peptides to liquid for consumption, such as coffee, I tend to add them directly to my meals whenever possible. However, for the purpose of this review, I tested this VeraWella Collagen in both hot and cold liquids. It dissolved… badly… really badly. Unlike many of the best collagen peptides such as Left Coast Performance, Sports Research or Orgain powders that are hydrolyzed into almost tiny flakes, this VeraWella is a straight powder that clumps up, floats and goes airborne easily. Like most collagen peptides, it dissolves notably faster in hot liquids than cold. In my experience, all unflavored collagen peptides add at least some very subtle flavor, usually similar to a very, very weak salt. In fact, this VeraWella has a very strong smell and far more savory flavor than just about any other I’ve ever reviewed in the past.
In all honesty, I tend to purchase the cheapest collagen peptides I can per ounce and stock up when I see sales. There are huge price differences between various brands and aside from differences in they way they dissolve, I seriously doubt there is much actual difference in the efficacy at different price points when compared with other type I & III peptides. I am willing to pay a higher price for the more complete type I, II, III, V & X peptides. I try to get certified grass fed whenever possible and would never purchase *any* labelled to have *anything* to do with China. Ingredients from Brazil are okay, but the USA is preferred.
As of the time of this review, this VeraWella Collagen Peptides is on the low side of what I consider to be a reasonable price for a type I & III collagen peptides supplement at $1.07 per ounce – a very reasonable cost per ounce. I’ve seen some good type I & III collagen peptides that I’ve used for as low as $1.09/ounce. I’ve seen others at well over $2/ounce and higher. Based on the price and how well it dissolves (let’s say below average), I’d give this three stars. And note that there are some EXCELLENT, more complete type I, II, III, V & X peptides supplements that come in at about $1.50 per ounce compared to this simpler type I & III supplement.

Added to my coffee its not noticeable, this unflavored powder doesn’t change
nor add to the flavor. Good way to get collagen in hot or cold drinks / food.

is the large lid = 5″ across. Yes it unscrews easily, it’s just requires a wide grasp.
If used for a cold drink it’s suggested to add first to room temperature water,
then to the drink. (so as to not lump)
This said to be pasture raised, not sure if a happy cow makes for a better product.
This type I & 3 are supportive for skin health and elasticity.
