I tried Aspen collagen and also the more famous brand. The more famous one is thicker and not as fine, doesn’t dissolve all the way, and I can hardly finish my coffee when I put one scoopful in it. Aspen has no beefy taste, is much finer ground, and totally dissolves in my coffee. It has the same amount of peptides but is just so much better. Plus it’s more affordable. I’ll stick to Aspen, no need to try anything else when this one is perfect!

I always look to reviews to find great collagen at a reasonable price that won’t taint the taste of my coffee. So far, so great with this one. It has a very neutral taste and dissolves well and the price is very reasonable given that the cows are raised in the USA (most collagen powders are made from cows raised in Brazil, even if the company processes the collagen in the USA). While it doesn’t dissolve easily, it does eventually if you keep mixing. Because it’s half the price of other dependably-sourced collagen, I don’t mind the extra effort required.
Anecdotally, ingesting two scoops of collagen daily has been a game-changer for me. My hair is much thicker (I’m middle-aged and it had thinned), I never get joint pain whereas before collagen I did, sex feels great again; you lose collagen even in your vaginal walls with age, and I find daily supplementation helps with lubrication…I can’t apologize for being frank, I wish anyone else had mentioned this in a collagen review, for me it’s proven helpful). Hopefully you’ll benefit as well.

I’m new to taking collagen but I’m reading the comments. I noticed a few deceptions on this package.
1. It say’s “Made in USA from globally sourced ingredients” means this could come from China and it is put into there package in the USA.
2.Serving size uses 3 TBS for a higher Protein and Collagen amounts then it tells you to use 2 TBS in your serving, so your really getting 14g of protein and less than 16g of collagen.
3. The Amino Acid content is given with percentages instead of mg. It makes it very hard to compare to other brands, if it was good levels in mg. they would tell you what they are.
On the good side this will dissolve well in HOT water, I use the hot on my bottled water fountain, and stir
vigorously. It will work.
The bag is a pain, if the zip doesn’t work fold it over and put a clip on it, It is a very fine powder and gets over everything. It has a smell and a strange taste … it’s collagen.
Jack and Cory seem like good folks but be up front with people and your products.

I’ve started collagen supplements within the last year, and started with You Theory’s Costco size bottle. I couldn’t take down all 6 tablets at once, and only did half-doses daily. I switched to NeoCell Super Collagen Powder Type 1 & 3 because they were on sale one day, but I ran out. I liked the powder version, so I started searching for a new powder to replace mine.
I decided to try Aspen Naturals, as it was the best value for my money, and it came in a powdered form from U.S. cows. I usually mix it in my coffee with a battery-powered frothing stick (the $1.50 ones from IKEA), and it blends quickly and smoothly into my coffee, adding 11 grams of protein, and making my skin noticeably more elastic by the end of the day. I love coffee, but as a diuretic, it can be really dehydrating to my skin. I also have to mention that I have heard that taking vitamin C with collagen would enhance its absorption into your body. I have been adding vitamin C-ester into my morning routine as well, and that could also be affecting my results with this product. However, I have also taken vitamin C-ester supplements along with the two previous collagen brands I have tried, with less noticeable (but still noticeable) results.
I’m very happy with this product. My only complaints about the product has to do with its packaging. As the powder is very fine, the “dust” has settled into the zipper closure, and it no longer closes, so I must clip the bag closed. I do have some old empty protein powder containers laying around, but I’m afraid of losing any product in a dust storm, should I try to transfer it into the new jar. If I may suggest to the company, I have seen a company called Bodylogix use pressed recycled paper/sugarcane/wheat or bullrush fibers formed into a jar w/ a screwtop. (Looks just like other protein powder jars.) Inside, there is a bag that is held open at the opening of the jar. You get your powder, you preserve its integrity, you use less plastic, and use renewable resources.

Like some of the other reviews, their ziplock bag doesn’t close, no matter how hard to try to make it zip. I’ve ordered it twice, hoping they’d change the bag, nope. I like the fact that they don’t use a big plastic canister, but is aggravating. The powder takes some time to dissolve in cold liquid, I just stir and let it sit, then stir again. Otherwise, I will order again and pour into a saved big plastic canister.

I’ve been testing out different brands of collagen peptides. So far I’ve tried Dr. Matthew, Great Lakes Wellness, Doctor’s Best, and this Aspen Naturals.
Dr. Matthew, Great Lakes, and this Aspen Naturals all seem close in terms of purity, taste, potency, and mixability. The Dr. Matthew and Great Lakes were the best, but they are significantly more expensive than the Aspen. The Doctor’s Best collagen peptide powder was awful, and gave off a really disgusting “farm manure” smell when mixed with water.
I made a spreadsheet calculating the costs of various collagen peptide brands, and at the time of this review, Aspen Naturals was significantly cheaper than almost all other brands, especially when you get the 5lb bag.
It’s extremely impressive that they’re able to deliver this level of quality at this price point. Aspen Naturals will be my go-to collagen peptide brand for the foreseeable future.
