I’ve been taking 5-HTP for many years to deal with low energy and mild depression, especially in the mid-afternoon. I liked that this combines 5-HTP with Vitamin B as that helps with energy. The combination was very good for me in terms of reducing feelings of tiredness and low mood around 3:00 pm. This isn’t medication though. It provides the foundational components for your body to produce more serotonin, so I didn’t expect it to make a big change in how I felt.
In terms of how this is to take, I didn’t experience any side effects. I didn’t have any stomachaches or digestive changes. I found these easy to swallow and they had no taste or smell. The dose is bigger than normal, but that didn’t seem to cause me any problems.

These come in a nice glass jar but they are not sealed well. When I opened my package the pills were spilled everywhere in the envelope so I don’t feel safe trying these not knowing if they were tampered with.

I use 5-HTP several times a week to relax in the evening and sometimes to help me sleep. I tried this brand and did not feel any effect. Upon closer examination, it is only 100mg per pill, whereas my normal product is 400 mg. That may explain it. But more than that, I am a little concerned that there is no certification of quality from the manufacturer – no third party testing, no good manufacturing practice seal, or any other similar validation of quality assurance that I am familiar with. It’s vegan, but I don’t know what that means for a pure chemical.

This seems to be a good quality 5-HTP blend so far.
– Capsules are easy to swallow
– No odd aftertaste or ill effects
– Price/Value is good
– Has GMP & HACCP certification, but not sure if 3rd party lab tested (I haven’t seen the COA yet)
I haven’t had any problem taking these, but I’m only giving 4 stars for now until I have a chance to view a COA from the company for this product. If/when I receive that, I’ll revise my review accordingly.

Ever since I entered menopause I’ve had issues sleeping. I can fall asleep pretty easy but then I toss and turn and wake up over and over. I didn’t want to take a prescription if I don’t have to so I decided to try this and I’m already seeing improvement. I will definitely order more.

I ordered this to see if it would give me a mood boost and a few days after taking it I could tell it was doing something. I was feeling blah while I was recovering from foot surgery and still not able to walk and stuck inside. The only difference was adding this one thing, so it was either working or a placebo effect, but I started feeling mentally stronger and more positive and managed to find some patience for my temporary situation.

PACKAGING: These arrived well packaged in a recyclable cushioned sleeve.
ORIGIN/BOTTLE/SAFETY: You receive 120 capsules in a dark glass bottle, a nice upgrade from the more common plastic. But I don’t love that there’s no external safety seal; the only tamper-resistant feature is the thin internal peel-off paper. They’re made in Germany.
EXPIRY: The bottle I ordered in October 2022 has a expiry date of 7/2024—which is indicated by a sticker, not a factory-printed bottle date. (I’m a little paranoid about expiration dates because last week I received a supplement from a different brand that had a new sticker slapped over the original expiration date… which revealed the bottle was 2 years past its freshness). So I actually peeled off this sticker and am very happy to report: no shenanigans.
EFFECTS/DOSE: I don’t take 5-HTP so cannot extoll its virtues but my husband is huge fan, has been for years. He’s informed me that unlike many supplements— which you’d need to take for period of time before noticing results—you can tell very quickly if this stuff works. He reports that this is a higher dose for him, doubled at 100mg vs his usual 50mg. He says it was making him drowsy within 15 minutes and believes it to be a pure/potent formula, no worries at all. He told me he can sometimes get a bit of heartburn/unsettled stomach on 5-HTP but didn’t experience any of that on this Clav. Considering the higher dose, he’s impressed!
CAPSULES: These capsules are fairly small, few should struggle to get these down. No odor or overt taste.
OTHER INGREDIENTS: Note this is a true vegan formula but does have an anti-caking agent. See pic.
BRAND: The bottle’s label was put on crooked and doesn’t seem as professional looking as competitors…. so i decided to search for this brand (a German company which I had not previously heard of) and at least at first blush they appear legit. Supplements, and the companies that produce them, are hard to review… unless there’s a glaringly obvious problem. There isn’t here. So am happy to recommend them.

I have always thought of 5-HTP as the best anti-depressant drug you can take without a prescription. I took 5-HTP a few years ago when I was feeling very stressed, and it really did help me feel calmer and less stressed. Those tablets were also 100mg each, like these ones from Clav. I had never heard of this brand before, but usually you can trust products made in Germany because of the high standards companies have to follow there. I have taken these for a few days, and I can already notice a difference in how I feel. I think they are working as well as I expected. I plan to finish this bottle, which is a 4-month supply (120 capsules). I will probably buy it again since my life has been very stressful this year, and I need to do whatever I can to make myself feel better, but also while taking supplements that are safe. Some reviewers mentioned that this supplement helps them sleep better. I take Melatonin when I have trouble sleeping. 5-HTP does not help me in that way, but it works great for helping me feel calm and happier overall. I highly recommend this brand of 5-HTP.
