I occasionally have eczema breakouts. I always have scaly beard dandruff as well as overly active sebaceous glands that give me an oily face. So frustrating to be covered in oil and dandruff. Nothing I’ve tried actually solves these issues until I found this stuff. As others have mentioned, this is an oil cleanser and as such, it does not produce any lather or foam. Because of the consistency and lack of lather, it is very difficult to figure out how much product is needed, so plan on it taking you 2-3 bottles to sort out how to use the stuff. My starting recommendation is:
Wet your body and then turn off the water.
Use a tiny amount at a time
Work on one area of your body at a time starting at your head and working down to minimize the amount of product needed to cover your body.
If you have dry feet/heels, be sure to massage this stuff into your feet.
You can use it on your hair but note that it may result in a heavy feeling. I normally shave my head, but I’ve tried the stuff when I let what’s left of my hair grow out and after my hair is dry it feels good, and this stuff really does wonders for oily scalp issues.
After completely covering your body, rinse well, but set your expectations correctly in what your skin should feel like after using this product. It will be very smooth and lightly slick. If your hand skips across your skin, you probably did not use enough.
My only complaints about this stuff are the price per volume and the fact that there is no option to buy larger bottles of it. I find I get almost two weeks out of a bottle, and at this price it’s really expensive for so little product. To counter this negative, in 50 years of looking, this is the ONLY product that I would say is completely effective.

I had a severe, serious, long-lasting reaction in 2016 to a cheap soap. It debilitated my skin to the point where it killed nerves the reaction was so strong. I have been suffering from dry skin since.
After multiple body washes, soaps, etc.. (natural and processed) I decided to try this CeraVe. I LOVE IT! It’s turned me around 180 and the skin dryness is much less of an issue, and the sensitivity to clothes is also gone. It made all the difference…what follows is the rundown:
THE GOOD: This stuff works! It actually healed my dry skin, and somehow now my clothes don’t hurt when they rub against my skin like they did for SO long before. A little goes a long way, too, so it’s good bang for the amount you get. The smell doesn’t linger on your skin once you rinse off either, so if the smell (described in THE BAD section) throws you off at first–give this stuff a shot anyway.
THE BAD: The smell. It smells like glue. It’s also pretty expensive, too. You pay a lot for a small bottle. 3-4 times more than a traditional bottle of regular soap. Also, while unnecessary for cleaning, the lack of suds sometimes makes it difficult to determine the places you’ve washed and you might end up re-washing an area accidentally.
THE UGLY: Did I mention the cost? It’s pricey.
THE VERDICT: No matter the cost, no matter the smell…this stuff WORKS. Its already turned my life around, and I have used it for only a week. It’s effective as a cleaner too, underarm odor for example is handled quite effectively and there’s no sticky or slimy residue once you dry off. It actually leaves your skin smooth and refreshed without feeling perfumed.
TL:DR version: THIS STUFF IS PERFECT!! CERAVE, PLEASE KEEP MAKING THIS PRODUCT FOR THOSE OF US WITH DAMAGED SKIN.

I can’t speak about the qualities of the product since I haven’t used it long enough, but I trust CeraVe to make a well formulated product. However, the packaging is lacking for me. It’s very difficult to only use a little amount, Too much product comes out everytime because of the bottle design. I wish there was a pump or another delivery method, because I feel like I’m wasting product.

I have to say that the bottle needs work. This soap is so heavy & thick (think motor oil) that it’s very hard to pour into your hand without waste.
The product is great and definitely helps with dry skin and does not irritate the skin at all.
The smell isn’t the best but it is very “clean”, no junk in it.
I’ve bought it for my son & granddaughter who both have some skin issues and it does help. It is not medicine, it’s just soap. So do not expect a miracle.

I bought this in hopes of finding a product that was formulated without my various allergens. Specifically, without Cocamidopropyl Betaine, which is nearly impossible to avoid in products labeled “hypoallergenic” or “sensitive”, despite it being one of the top contact allergens. This was recommended on the SkinSafe app, because it did not contain any of my 10 allergens.
That being said, this formula is awful as a body wash. You need an absurd amount to cover your entire body, and if you’re also working around an 8 month pregnant belly, forget about trying to extend the life of the soap. As soon as it leaves the bottle it already feels like it’s disappearing in your hand. And trying to get it into your body without dropping half of it is nearly impossible. It’s watery & doesn’t suds up even a little to help with spreading it across your skin.
I imagine it’d work well for people who are experiencing severe eczema or other skin condition flare ups. Perhaps for use in affected areas only, but certainly not as an overall body wash. Plus, the container is so much smaller than I expected (my fault for not checking the listing more closely), but you really would go through one of these bottles in a week or two with regular bathing.
3 stars – because it could work well for some, but definitely not the best option for those looking to avoid certain allergens.

This product feels good on the skin, leaving skin feeling moist without excessive oiliness. The smell is not pleasant but, adding a scent would only add to the risk of worsening eczema. My only complaint is that the oil runs down the side of the container when I try to pour it into my hand, wasting some of it. It is like a thin liquid. I would like to see Cerave change to a flip type spout foe easy pouring.
