These capsules are a full 1″ long and 3/8″ wide– Yes they are HUGE! I normally can’t swallow any pill larger than half the size of these. I took a gamble since other reviewers said they slid down easily. I swallow some water first then take the capsule with another mouth full of water. This seems to give my throat the lubrication it needs to get this monster down. I’ve taken it for about a week now with no problems. I suggest taking this just prior to a light snack. I have not had any burping or fishy taste whatsoever when taken this way. I tried taking it 1 time just prior to breakfast and I did get a very slight fishy aftertaste which I think is due to having a fuller stomach thus why I recommend taking it with a light snack. I switched to these 100% EPA pills from the Carlson Very Finest Fish oil which has a combo of EPA and DHA because of my cholesterol. After taking the Combo oil for 6 months or so my cholesterol number jumped alot and my LDL went up by 40 points. After some research I found that the DHA can cause this and that EPA alone is proven to lower LDL. I am hoping this is the case and that my next blood test will prove this correct. We’ll see.

Unless you are a nursing mother or growing child, DHA is bad news for 80-90% of people. You literally need the genes for it not to have negative effects on your LDL and Triglycerides. So unless your DNA test clears you for regular fish oil with DHA in it; it’s best to go with an EPA only supplement.
Most insurance won’t pay for Vascepa and they will sub in a generic, usually with 465mg EPA and 375 mg DHA… so to get your approximate 2g of EPA, you have to take in 1.5g of DHA! What the heck? Are they trying to get people on statins? I wouldn’t doubt it. This isn’t new science either, a recent genomic study confirmed it in March 2021, but it’s been pretty well known for at least 5 years now, but unless your doctor or pharmacist likes to stay on the cutting edge (most don’t), they might even be okay with the substitution, since ‘some people’ might react poorly to DHA. Ha, again, try 80%+! Google ‘fish oil gene’ and check out the Sciencedaily article about the University of Georgia study, or ‘fish oil dna’ for the Sciencemag article from 2015.
Not all fish oil is created equal, and if you don’t confirm you can handle regular fish oil in high doses, you’re just wasting your money and worse, potentially negatively impacting exactly what you’re trying to reign in so you don’t have to be on statins and suffer all those fun side effects like sudden death.
