I’ve been taking bovine colostrum in powder form for several months now, and I have to say it is one of my favorite supplements. I love the idea of it, though I’m not completely sold on its efficacy or the claims made by various companies about it. That said, I haven’t experienced any negative side effects from it and have enjoyed generally good overall health while taking it.
One thing to consider with powder versus capsules is the convenience. Capsules are easier. I like the powders, but you have to mix them in a shaker cup or blender to really work. I always feel like I lose at least a little powder that way. That doesn’t happen with capsules, of course. The tradeoff is that with capsules you pay a little more per serving and/or get a little less. The powder I just finished had 60 servings at about $33 (a little cheaper per serving than this one) and gave me 2500 mg. per serving (two scoops). This one gets you 1200 mg. per two capsules (120 caps in a bottle). I should also note the stated IgG in the powder was 50% compared to 40% here. So, you can see the difference. I will probably go back to powder form after this bottle, but we’ll see. It is nice taking the capsules, not wasting any powder, not having to mix it into anything (can save you calories that way). I mixed two scoops of powder into plain water recently and it was dreadful, for what that’s worth.
I do trust this brand and think this is probably high-quality colostrum. It is convenient to take if you don’t mind two more capsules to your regimen, and the price is not bad for a two-month supply. However, you won’t be getting as much overall colostrum or IgG as you could for a lower per serving cost from some bulk powders.
