I have long been familiar with the benefits of garlic, but this is my first time trying an actual supplement. (One can only eat so much garlic.) I like that it is Made in the USA and the ingredients seem pretty clean although it does have silica and magnesium stearate in the capsule which is probably fine but some people avoid them. There is a slight garlicky smell when the bottle is opened, I take this as a good sign. I did not notice any aftertaste or issues after taking them, I only take one at a time though. The recommended dosage is three tablets, I like to spread them out throughout the day. The price is right and overall seems like a solid choice for black garlic supplements.

I have had garlic supplements before, first time for black garlic. I had to do a bit of research. Black garlic is created through an extensive fermentation and aging process in which raw, white garlic bulbs are kept between 140 and 190 F (60 to 87 C) at high humidity for long periods — sometimes up to a month. This process causes the color, texture and taste of the entire bulb to change. Black garlic has antioxidants that can help reduce inflammation which I have in my joints. The product has been lab tested and manufactured in a GMP facility. Piping Rock offers many highly rated supplements. Their 40 years of business gives us a confidence in their products. The capsules are easy to swallow. There is a mild garlic after taste when taken on an empty stomach.

This supplement has been 3rd party tested for purity and potency, and is standardized to 0.16% S-allyl-cysteine (2.4mg per serving). That makes this black garlic supplement more potent than Kyolic (the gold standard for “aged garlic”, which contains around (1.5mg per serving).
The optimal dose for black garlic is 1000-2000mg per day, so this 1500mg/serving supplement provides a sufficient dosage to get the health benefits of black garlic.
Overall – this is an excellent, high quality black garlic supplement. At 1500mg per serving and standardized to S-allyl-cysteine, it’s potent and effective. The only issue is the servings per bottle – there are just 20 servings per container when you take this at the instructed 3 capsules/serving.

When I worked at a vitamin/health food store in college, I was introduced to a variety of products and brands; Solgar, Nature’s Way, Schiff, and others. I remember selling Kyolic garlic capsules – at the time, what made Kyolic stand out from oil-based nootropics was the fact that their garlic was ‘aged’, as such, it claimed a greater bioavailability compared to the others.
Fast-forward to today, and one can find all varieties of manufactured garlic supplements, and other brands have similarly jumped on the aged-garlic bandwagon. Glad to see that one of my favorite brands, Piping Rock now sells an organic, fermented garlic supplement. My only complaints would be that the recommended serving is 3 capsules (to receive the potency of 1,500mg), and as such, the bottle only gives you a 20 day supply.

This supplement is potent. I wish it came without additives. The capsules have a relatively mild odor, and are easy to swallow. However, if you have GERD or stomach acidity issues, heartburn can (probably will) ensue. I learned this the hard way.
