Bought this product on the recommendation of a friend. I live in a cold climate city, so having a tan is not always possible.
Over the years I have tried several self tanning products with no luck.
However, this product has completely changed my opinion on self tanners. It is amazing!!!
The smell is so good, the foam goes on easily and gives me a streak free appearance. I did also buy a mitt to help apply the product which helps.
Highly recommend this product!!!

Between Bondi Sands and B.Tan products I don’t think I’ll ever be rocking my completely natural skin. It’s too easy to look gloriously golden like I did as a kid who spent too much time in the sun every day. I loved the tan I had in my pre-tan years but as an adult, I cringe at the thought of the skin damage I’d cause by soaking it up now.
Bondi’s Liquid Gold line is probably my favorite of all their products. It really doubles down on that golden tone so you glow beautifully. It’s not an especially dark tanner (though you can double layer it for one) but being so very pale (KVD Light 004 and NARS Siberia kind of pale) that’s a bonus for me. I don’t want to wake up the next day and have people thinking I’m wearing Brownface. The color this gives me from one application is a lot like I’d expect after a weekend at the beach, but I’ve always been someone who tans exceptionally well despite my fair skin. So I’d estimate one go of this takes me about 3 shades darker, maybe 4.
Development time is true to the 5-6 hours, that’s when I saw the most prominent color and it didn’t seem to deepen after that. There’s little to no DHA smell and the Bondi coconut scent is subtle but pleasant and dissapates relatively quickly unlike with their gradual tanning milk where it tends to linger a while. It dries down fully with no remanining tackiness on the skin within about 10 minutes but you can safely sit down and put on a loose robe or something within a handful of seconds after buffing in the mousse. Huge bonus for me! I do not like standing around almost naked like an idiot waiting for a self tanner to dry.
Color is also super even and doesn’t cling as badly to dry areas as other mousses have done for me. I always rub a little Aquaphor or one of my thicker face creams on my elbows, knees, and wrists before tanning and nearly always end up with them much darker anyway, but not so with this. My elbows are maybe a bit dark but not terribly so and I put that more on just how rough that area is for me usually. Also impressive is how well it blended out some of the stubborn old tan I had left in a few patches that just would not come off my skin. fI was careful to not put much product in those areas but some overlap still happens. Yet, the deepening was almost negligent in those areas and the rest of the color blends into it so well you can hardly tell unless you’re really looking for it.
Highly recommend this tanner if you’re looking for a medium kind of depth and/or a newer person to tanning. You’ll get a very visible result but not a shockingly dramatic one with a very easy-to-use product (no rinsing or showering required here!). Bondi also tends to last pretty well, especially if you use a gradual tanner to help prolong the tan or just aid it in fading nicer. I rarely get icky patchy fading anywhere but my wrists where I have to wash my hands often for work, but those are easily corrected. It’s so nice not having to babysit my tan every single day.

I’ve used just about every self tanner there is. I have light skin…. Not quite fair but definitely not medium either… so I feel so much better when I have a little color.
My favorite used to be St Tropez express tan because it lasted a long time, didnt fade patchy and after about 3 applications I could achieve a fairly dark color without being orange. But starting mid 2022 I started to notice that it wasn’t quite the same. I’m not sure if the formula changed but it was starting to fade patchy and the color wasn’t as pretty. Also, it would stain my sheets… (Something almost every self tanner does). I had tried Bondi Sands in the past and remembered that it was natural looking so I decided to give it another try because I do love that it goes on clear so my sheets don’t get stained. (Note… it does wash out completely with a little stain spray)
A drawback for me is that achieving any depth of color is much more gradual and it takes several applications to achieve what I would consider a medium tan. I apply mine at night and sleep in it so that means starting Monday and having a nice glow by Friday if I use it at least 3 of those nights. There is a tiny bit of color after the first application…. But nothing I would consider to be “tan”.., it just sort of takes away the whiteness and evens tone somewhat.
The other drawback is that it doesn’t last as long as many others and it doesn’t fade evenly like St Tropez used to. I have used self tanners for years so I know to make sure my skin is hydrated and exfoliated prior to use and I always use a velour mitt.
But I still really like it because it doesn’t stain the sheets! It doesn’t feel sticky and it doesn’t turn out orange. It’s NOT moisturizing but it’s not drying either…. And the smell is better than most.

This is my first time using a sunless tanning solution and I’m so happy with the results of this product! Definitely buy the package with the hand mitt or get the mitt separately – this makes the application process a lot smoother and more consistent for color results. As for results, it’s true that it doesn’t bleed onto your clothes or the bed – thus far at least in my experience – and it is key to exfoliate. And I’m very happy that it doesn’t look like I’m trying to be an Oompa Loompa – therefore, the tan looks very natural and not orange. For me, the tan stays present for several days – maybe even longer than a week – and reapplying once I feel near to my natural coloring is made easier when exfoliating some of the bends of the body (elbows, ankle bones, etc.) I did notice that if my skin gets too dry, there will sometimes show faint speckles indicating the tanning locations I’ve covered – however, this can be remedied by hydrating my skin. Additionally – and this is very niche – I noticed that when I wear my Apple Watch for sleep tracking, this can mess with the coloring on my wrist if I wear it too tight with a silicone band. Loosening the watch slightly seems to do the trick! Another niche thing; I’m Italian and thus, very hairy, and I had initially been concerned that this would mess with the coloring results but, it didn’t! Yay tan and hairy! And finally, listen to the instructions when it says to do long strokes when applying – this makes the coloring, again, more consistent – and you can use remaining foam/a small amount of foam on the edge of the mitt in order to get your face, nooks and crannies, etc. and if you need some extra help, phone a friend or partner(s) to get those regions you can’t reach because you’re not a contortionist! All in all, this is a great product for your self-tanning, sans risk of melanoma solutions!

I am new to self-tanners and thought I put it on evenly but I ended up streaky, patchy and too orange. It might be that I need a better technique but I am going to try a different brand.

Not orange. Realistic tan overnight.
