I wanted to get more dryer balls as my old ones are starting to look their age after many years of use. These are smaller than my old ones, but I did know that when I bought them. I was drawn to this brand because the price was great & it was a 6 pack. 100% NZ wool was a bonus.
I have an autoimmune disease, allergies & extremely sensitive skin, so I cannot use dryer sheets or liquid softener as they leave residue in the fabric fibers & I cannot have any scents. I like that dryer balls are reusable & last for an extremely long time with very little maintenance required. I don’t wash mine since my laundry is always clean when it gets to the dryer, so the wool balls don’t get dirty. I don’t usually have any static issues – except when I wash my hankies/napkins/kitchen rags. Microfiber & the one’s with polyester cotton blends do stick to the cotton one’s if they are in the dryer for very long. I do a lot of air fluffing & only used the dryer to dry the hankies/napkins/rags, towels & bedding. I hang clothes up to dry in my basement & then air fluff to get any lint out & soften them up (I have hard water, so fabric can get stiff & scratchy when hung to dry). Dryer balls do make noise while they are in the dryer, but I don’t usually notice it (my laundry room is in my basement). My dryer balls stay in my dryer all the time, so they are easy to use since they are waiting for the next load.
I definitely recommend wool dryer balls – you will save a lot of money once you cut out the single use dryer sheets & your fabric will be chemical free too.
