I appreciate what this cookie is trying to do. It has no sugar alcohols and no artificial sweeteners – only sugar, stevia, and monk fruit. They are trying to compromise between a protein bar and a tasty cookie, and I don’t think they achieved the right balance. The cookie part without the chocolate chips has a strong taste of protein powder – I would describe it as a bit malty if I am being kind, while my teenager described it as cardboard-like. Together with the chocolate chips, the flavor works pretty well, though it does not have enough vanilla flavor. As to the texture – when eaten at room temperature, the chocolate chips are chalky. The cookie is a bit gritty – but not from the protein powder. The cookie contains oats, and the rough texture seems to be from a few bits of oat that are not finely ground. I think they should have ground the oats all the way or made an obviously oatmeal cookie. The outside seems moist when you bite into it, but the inside somehow seems dry. When warmed up, the cookie seems moist and the chocolate chips are no longer chalky – a big improvement. My teenager tried one bite (at room temp) and did not want any more. (They don’t generally like protein bars, but they love cookies). I found myself having one cookie a day for a few days – when I was hungry before dinner, but I won’t be buying more. For the amount of calories in this, I’d rather have 3 popular chocolate sandwich cookies (160 cal) and a serving of protein powder (~50 cal) in a cup of unsweetened almond milk (30 cal) – which would have a similar amount of sugar and a bit more protein. I am a regular user of protein powder, protein bars, monk fruit, and stevia.

these things were 3 months expired, smelled like barf, and tasted absolutely horrible. Will never buy again especially for $40!!!!

This is one of those large soft cookies that is similar in style to places that just sell cookies around my area. I’m actually a fan of hard cookies, not soft cookies, but I understand it makes sense for shipping that soft cookies won’t crumble and crack as much.
The sweetness level is roughly half of that of a normal cookie, so it might not appeal to some people.
This also has a lot of carbs if you are a carb watcher (27g of carbs, with 12g sugars and 10g added sugars).
Not sure why they don’t list the ingredients. This is what was on the label at the time of review (companies often change their ingredients, so I would take this with a grain of salt):
Protein Blend (Milk Protein Concentrate, Wheat Protein, Collagen Hydrolysate, Whey Protein Concentrate), Whole Grain Rolled Oats, Margarine (Vegetable Oil Blend (Palm Oil, Soybean Lecithin, Vegetable Monoglycerides, Citric Acid, Beta Carotene, Vitamin A)), Light Brown Sugar, Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips (Sugar, Chocolate (Sweet and Unsweetened), Dextrose, Cocoa Butter, Milk Fat, Lecithin (Soy), Natural Flavor, Milk), Rice Flour, Almond Milk, Eggs, Non-Fat Dry Milk, Potassium Sorbate, Vanilla Extract, Natural Flavors (Medium Chain Triglycerides), Baking Soda, Salt, Stevia Extract, Monkfruit Extract.

If you want a cookie that tastes like your typical, sugary, unhealthy cookie, you’ll probably have trouble doing that in a protein cookie. If you’re realistic about taste or like the taste of protein, you’ll love these. I’ve tried all sorts of brands (quest, perfect cookie, my cookie doc) and these are at the top of my list so far. Great macros too! They’re a little more expensive but for the calorie to protein content, it’s worth it to me.

Very soft, didn’t smell bad to me, and was a perfectly filling snack!

The media could not be loaded.

They taste terrible and they have margarine in them with a bunch of chemicals to kill a person!

  6. S D

I really enjoy these (maybe too much lol). When I am looking for a treat that won’t have me feeling guilty afterwards these really hit the spot.

  7. Sara Overton

Fresh and soft, but the taste is barely tolerable

  8. Barry Lumbersquatch

Not the worst tasting, also not the best.

Disappointed that 4 out of the 12 individually wrapped cookies was already opened, making the normally soft cookies hard and unedible. Main package they came in was sealed so it’s probably an issue with the packaging glue.
