The capsule does have a fishy taste but seems to work

The “allergy information” is different then when you get the bottle. It doesn’t mention soy in the ingredients in the online pictures. But when you get the bottle it has different information saying it contains soy. For those who have soy allergies don’t get this. The pictures online need to be changed. This item isn’t returnable. But I got lucky and got a refund. But that won’t happen to everyone. So be careful.

I just started taking these so I don’t know the effectiveness or benefits to taking them yet. They have a horrible fishy smell and taste. Very difficult for me to take.

I don’t know if they are helping me with my vision or not but my doctor said they would at least not cause any problems. They are very expensive to buy and I don’t think I will continue to buy them.
For other people they may be just what you need to strengthen your retina.

I took them and then forgot about it because you take vitamins sometimes but never really know if they work but when I went to my optometrist she said “Your eyes look better, have you been taking something?” When I got home, I remembered I had taken them and had run out. I will continue to buy with that kind of proof in the pudding!

I have been taking a retinal supplement for a number of years, due to suggestions by a couple of opticians because of a familial history of dry age-related macular degeneration. There are now a number of studies that have shown that Lutein, Zeaxanthin, and omega-3’s can delay or reduce the severity of MD. The first two of those are carotenoid pigments found in plants, they are usually extracted from marigolds, such as with this product.
There are a number of vary similar retinal supplements, the best known is probably B&L Ocuvite 50+. I have taken that or a generic equivalent for many years. I thought I would give this product a try. The ingredients in this are similar to the Ocuvite product, with a few exceptions. Ocuvite contains fish oil, so it has more Omega-3’s, but is not vegan. This Biophix contains Seawit Algae Oil Powder. Hmm, didn’t realize that oils could be powderized. There is evidence that the pigment absorption in the digestive system is higher when it is in an oil-based mix. Don’t know about the algae oil powder, but it might help. Also, the Biophix contains Hyaluronic Acid, which Occuvite does not.
I often don’t give supplements five stars unless there is good evidence of 3rd Party testing to verify product contents. This does not have that, but it is manufactured in the USA in A GMP facility, which gives a little more confidence. In terms of value, this product seems to sell for a similar price per daily dose to Ocuvite50+.
Other reviewers complained of a fish smell. I had not noticed this with individual capsules, but if I stick my nose in the bottle there is a slight smell of marigold & fish. I never found it objectionable.
