The smell is unbearable (unless I got an expired bottle. I used these to eliminate the nauseating feeling that I got from doing the Carnivore Diet, and they helped tremendously.

Instead of taking many 99mg capsules of potassium per day, I’m able to take 1 three times a day (with food).
I think the the bi-carbonate helps to protect the gut whereas other forms can cause severe irritation to it. I found that out the hard way with a test of prescription strength potassium. I took it while I was waiting for my meal to finish cooking. I figured that it would be safe as I would be eating soon. In those days, I mistakenly thought that all supplements were taken with food to increase absorption. I didn’t know that some supps that are taken with food because otherwise they could cause severe irritation. Right after I did that, there were leaky gut symptoms that I still endure today. Nothing else was different in my meals or supplements.
In spite of the safer bicarbonate form, I’m careful to take this product way into my meals. I have a big respect for potassium and how I take it. Hope others learn from my experience before they get into trouble.

I don’t like to write 1 star reviews but this product has a serious problem. When I found this product, I was excited because it allowed me to get more potassium into my system easier than the standard 99mg capsules. The first two bottles I bought cost 29.99 and they were great. However, when they lowered the price, the next two bottles had an awful chemical smell when I opened the bottle. The first two bottles did not but they were from a different lot number. So, I e-mailed the company and they promised to look into it if I sent them the lot number of the bad bottles; they never got back to me after I sent them the bad lot numbers so they apparently did not. I had Amazon replace the two bottles and received a different lot number and they were fine.
So, when I ran out, I ordered another bottle and again, a serious chemical odor. With this batch I could not only smell it but taste it when I took the capsules. After a couple of days, I could tell it was making me sick. So I am sending back for a refund. I am disappointed that the company did not follow up on my original concern and this newer batch of product is more heavily tainted than the other tainted bottles I received. I can only guess that the taint is from the capsules themselves, not the potassium bicarbonate but I don’t know for sure. I am disappointed that the company never responded to me after my original concern and that the most recent batch is worse than the previous one. This could have been a great product and the first two bottles I bought at 29.99 were great. However, these lower price bottles are not worth buying because you don’t know which will be usable or tainted. I won’t be buying this product anymore and will look at other potassium products because I do need extra potassium. A word of advice, if you get this product and it stinks when you open the bottle, don’t take it. I learned that lesson the hard way.

This product causes an extreme burning and nausea-inducing sensation every time I take it. I’ve taken it before, after, and with no food. All are terrible. Burns like acid in your stomach and up your esophagus- it’s not just Potassium Bicarbonate. I’ve tried plenty other amazing products, it is specifically this product that is terrible quality. Probably filled with all sorts of hidden, disgusting fillers. When taking this, I’ve lied on the cold floor and literally squirmed into different positions because the pain was so unbearable- save yourself.
Sleeping better –
I used this product because I learned that potassium is the most important mineral to have in ones body because it aids in normal muscle and nerve function. I was having a lot of leg and foot cramping at night when sleeping and since I’ve added a lot more potassium daily, these horrendous middle of the night, wake me up, can’t get up fast enough and walk around to get rid of the cramps – have gone away!!!
