The Right Tool –
I enjoy trying new products and was intrigued by this collagen powder primarily because of its flavor. The ingredients list was what sold it for me, very simple, all clean. US or other trustworthy sourcing is a must and this checks that box as well.
I have been working on a strength training program for a few months and it is nice to change up my routine to prevent supplement boredom. While this product doesn’t have the highest protein level by serving, it is actually rather concentrated. 2 scoops/servings, you’re at 30g which is a nice potency for my needs after a 2-3hr workout.
As for flavor and texture I was pleasantly surprised. Rather than a thick consistency like you might expect from a traditional protein powder, this was lighter/thinner, maybe halfway between a protein powder and an electrolyte mix. The flavor is nice, rather light and surprisingly the cordyceps and yucca add a nice umami compliment to the mango.
As for downsides I can really only find one (maybe two). This mix does not blend easily in cold beverages or cold water. Given the nature of the nice flavor profile of the product, it seems like you would want to mix this with cold water and enjoy as-is, but I did not have very good results with a blender bottle or even a powered whisk like this https://amzn.to/4hsnUiI Both methods left the mix with unmixed clumps and froth. I think if you were to add this to a fruit smoothie in a standup mixer it would blend well, however at that point you won’t get any flavor from this mix because it is rather subtle.
So, maybe not perfect, maybe there is another method to get better blending results but I haven’t come across it. Because this is my only criticism I would like to give it a 4.5 star review (which Amazon doesn’t allow). So I’ll give it a 5 star because it is just too good in the ingredient list and sourcing department as well as flavor to see it as a 4 star item. Comes with a scoop too
