I absolutely love protein bars. That said..they are not all made equally. Some taste like candy..others taste like….shhhh…nevermind. When trying a new one, you never know what you will get!
Luckily, I thought these were delicious. I’m not usually a fan of brownie but they appeared to be the dense, chewy variety..which I can handle. I was…sorta right! They’re a bit more on the crumbly side. Kind of like a dry cookie dough. I personally like the texture but can see where others wouldn’t. The flavor is really good too. Peanut buttery w/ a hint of chocolate and crunchy pea protein pieces.
That all being said, what’s best about these are the ingredients. All very well known. The strangest is literally the pea protein. This is the only protein bar I’ve had that is sweetened with plain old honey too. I would prefer that to pretty much anything.
Anyway, would definitely recommend as well as order again myself! Hope they come in more flavors too..though these were delicious so maybe best to go with the same!

I’ve eaten about 10 of these now, and I can say with 100% confidence – there are no chocolate chips or pieces in these. If there’s dark chocolate in these, like they claim, it must be an extremely small amount melted down and added to the batter. They mostly taste like peanut butter and oats. That being said, texturally and taste wise they’re the best protein bars I’ve ever had.

I have had some of Kate’s other protein bars but the Snickerdoodle ones are not that great. They are dry and pretty tasteless. I am a bit disappointed in the flavor and how dry they are.

I use protein bars for a quick meal when I’m on the go. I’ve tried Clif and Clean bars and both are good. I prefer Clif bars as they are more filling. Clean bars are like eating a candy bar and are a bit too sweet.
Kate’s bars are similar to a Clif bar – a bit dry and crumbly. Kate’s bars are even drier than a Clif bar, so you’ll definitely want to drink water with the bar. The taste was pretty good. I tasted more chocolate brownie than peanut butter, but the taste was good. Having a Kate’s bar and a glass of water made me feel like I had a meal as it fills you up and eliminates the hunger feeling.
The size of the Kate’s bar is about the same size as a Clif bar. The Kate’s bar seems denser than a Clif bar, which explains the feeling of fullness after eating it. I like the Kate’s bar and would recommend it along with a glass of water for those times when you don’t have time for a full meal.

When I think of peanut butter cup I think of peanut butter and chocolate. I found this bar to taste only of peanut. Even the illustration on the wrapper shows primarily chocolate (two whole cups plus a cup that is broken open). Yes, I notice it says ‘for illustration only’ but that seemed logical, I was not expecting peanut butter cup candies, however I didn’t expect it to mean they taste of peanut only.
It has a nice crunchy texture. Compared to other bars I’m used to this is a bit drier consistency and that’s a nice change of pace.
The bar itself is a nice size. Each are individually wrapped and well sealed so for me, a frequent traveler, they are very convenient to toss in a backpack or carryon.
The Nutrition Facts panel indicates the bar provides 15 grams of protein, which is a nice amount for a snack, however it also contains 270 calories which more than I like for a snack. I try to keep snacks under 200 calories. The 16 grams of added sugars seems more than is really needed.
I love that these are gluten free! The only animal-related ingredient is honey so it could be considered vegetarian depending on your values regarding the harvesting of honey.

Taste and texture is fine and I generally don’t expect protein bars to be treat-like. It’s more on the dry, crumbly side and doesn’t ‘wow’ me. Moving onto the nutrition is where I am more critical because for a protein bar there is not much protein, little fiber, and a lot of sugar. These aren’t great macros and there are other bars or snacks that taste better with better macros. Overall it’s average.

The entirety of these bars honestly taste like peanut butter to me, and that’s exactly I love them. There are accents of honey, which gives it that natural sweetening. It should be noted that this does contain nuts for those allergic. Hope they make a version that doesn’t contain nuts if they haven’t already. At 270 calories and only 15 grams of protein, I don’t believe it to be the most macro friendly.. however when something tastes entirely of peanut butter and honey you kind of expect it. At the time of writing this you get 40% off with subscribe and save which brings it down to $20ish dollars plus another 10% off with a code, so that’s around $18. I think that is well worth the try if you’re looking for good snack. It also stands up well in hot weather, making it the perfect snack for hiking in the summer. Recommend !

These are tasty protein bars, and for their size contain a respectable amount of protein. I like the chocolatey flavor, as well as the chunks of peanut in them, which adds some nice texture.
However, I have two major gripes. First, they advertise as “plant-based,” but they contain honey. It would be great to replace the honey so they could be fully vegan, and also to avoid confusion with the marketing!
Second, they contain a ridiculous amount of sugar. This is always frustrating to me about protein bars: I’m eating them because I’m trying to give my body what it needs after a workout, but so many of these products are absolutely packed with sugar. These contain 13g of added sugar in a small bar – this is 26% a standard daily value. Almost 1/4 of the bar is sugar, by weight!
I do appreciate that they’re organic, and avoid (most) animal products.
