I initially bought this for my hands to use instead of a hand lotion or creme. It works perfectly for me and for this purpose; it took about 3 weeks of daily applications before going to bed to clear up all red spots, cure blisters and callused skin, get rid of eczemas and other minor ailments – the skin on my hands is perfect and super soft now.
It works so well for my hands, I now started using it on my face and feet. I’m expecting it to take longer to achieve a noticeable effect on my face, but I already like it better than synthetic moisturizers.
It smells fairly neutral, actually kind of pleasant and very natural, and once absorbed into the skin any smell is completely gone.
A small amount of this goes a long way.

Tallow balm is by far the BEST tallow balm I have ever used. Its consistency is perfect – refined – its scent is so mild and it has truly healed my dry sensitive skin I use it all over my face neck eyes chest and wherever else needs some love. Can’t recommend this product enough – it got rid of my dad’s excema and red irritation as well. This should be on every skin care shelf in Whole Foods. Truly. Biggest fan!

3/18/24 UPDATE: I have been using this for 7 days now, and I have mixed feelings. I was expecting that my hands, feet, and lips would be greatly improved. My lips do seem somewhat better, but like I stated before, I don’t like tasting lavender, so I’m planning on switching to a non-flavored tallow lip balm. My feet do seem less dried out, but not “soft” yet. My hands are confusing me the most, they seem slightly “more rough/dry” after 7 days of use. The company did send an email stating that during the first 7 days of use, your skin might go through some sort of detoxification process, so I will continue to use and see what happens.
My overall review after 4 days of use is positive.
I feel like it is working as expected.

PROS:
-The lavender scent is nice.
-Once you warm it up in your palm and use your finger to kinda “mix” it around and smooth it out, it becomes smoother and more “lotion/cream” like, and goes on well. (I use my thumbnail to “scrape” out about enough to cover the top of my thumbnail, then warm it in my palm.)
CONS:
-Even though I only applied a small amount to my lips, I could still “taste” it. This won’t be successful as a “lip balm” for me. I’ll have to keep looking. (Or maybe later order the unscented.)
-The price. It’s a steep price! But, I do understand that it’s only 3 natural ingredients and it’s made in the USA, so yes, it’s going to cost more.
-As stated above, straight from the jar this is a “hard balm”, but the consistency changes when you warm it up in your palm.

I was quite skeptical, but wow this stuff is great, I’m sold for life. I liked the explanations they give on their website about how they source, sort, clean, do their own rendering, etc. They even list the farms they buy from!
And quite apart from all that, the salve makes my hands feel the way I WANT my hands to feel after moisturizing. Just like my hands used to be before covid, when I started washing my hands way more often. When that died off a little, I moved into a house where there are a lot of really adorable and clean animals, but still… I end up washing my hands all the time, since I don’t want to be rubbing my eyes with animal dander and hair etc. The handwashing all the time continues, and I’m SO glad to have this stuff. One container lasts forEVer, I haven’t even gone through half of my pot yet, (2oz) and it’s been months and months.
After just a couple minutes, it sinks into the skin and is not noticeable any more, no persistent greasy feeling unless you overdo it like a LOT. If I do that accidentally, buffing with a dry or moist hand towel takes care of it, and the overall feeling is really nice.
I adore peppermint, and while this is not intensely minty, I think the mint must do a great job covering any tallow smell, because I’ve only ever caught the faintest whiff of that (while overdoing it, mostly). I cannot speak to the other scents/unscented, but I doubt they smell worse, really.
This has saved my dry cracky hands, and also helped with some dry skin issues on my face and elbows. Cannot recommend it enough!
The texture may be a little grainy, depending on what the storage/shipping conditions were like, mine is SUPER grainy, but I don’t give a &@#, because that doesn’t matter at all. Works amazing anyway. Once it melts onto your skin, it’s heaven.
