This protein doesn’t have all the extra crap that isn’t good for you. warning, it’s not sweet, but it’s great.

I have bought other casine protein powders before and they were a little gritty. This one has a good texture and a good flavor. I did buy it because of its gelatin like features. This is one of the benefits because I can stir it up with water and let it thicken then add some yogurt, fruit, and granola and make a parfait And because it does not have an aftertaste like whey protein powder. Casine protein powder absorbs more slowly so can the beneficial for long lasting protein absorption.

I had this bag for about a year and tried adding to a few different things and making the pudding. Nothing really that made me say “this is good!”. But this past winter I have been adding it to my oatmeal to amp up the protein. The scoop is fairly large, so I am only using about half a scoop, but I really do like the taste in my oatmeal. I used to add a little bit of milk, but now with the Ascent Casein Protein Powder added I no longer add milk. I think it adds a nice little creaminess and taste to the oatmeal. I like it added to plain oatmeal better than some of the higher protein oatmeal packs that I have tried and I can control the added sugar by not using the prepacked individual packs of the higher protein oatmeals I have tried.

The chocolate flavor is wonderful. I feel like it gives me a great way to be sure I get my necessary protein.

Switched to this in a search for replacement from kaged case in
Product ingredients seem fairly clean
Taste is off a bit so I add a small scoop of vanilla whey to make up for it
I mix with warm water and it blends well
Will stick with this brand unless I find something better
I feel like it helps to drink casein at night

Let me first start by saying I’m a big fan of Ascent Whey Protein powder and Premiere Protein shakes. I’m very tolerant of most protein powders and drinks, and I like many of them to varying degrees.
I decided to try this since it was for sustained recovery.
The first time I made it with almond milk and some frozen banana slices (my normal go-to recipe) and mixed with an electric submersion “stick” mixer. I ended up with a pudding that I tried to eat with a spoon. I actually thought I would like this option, but I couldn’t handle the taste. I thought maybe I used too many bananas or too much powder or not enough milk.
I tried again a day or two later and adjusted my ratios so it was thinner and had fewer frozen banana slices but the taste and texture didn’t get any better (of course it was thinner so I could drink it this time though.) I couldn’t even finish it.
I’m disappointed that I didn’t like this so badly that I had to throw it away. I will say that Amazon’s customer service was remarkable and refunded my money anyway for this product even though it is non-returnable. 5 stars for Amazon.

I agree with a lot of the other reviewers about this protein powder. The taste is something that takes some getting used to, but I don’t find it that bad at all. I love that it doesn’t have any artificial sweeteners in it. My biggest problem is that it’s like trying to drink wet concrete. It’s so incredibly thick that I have to thin it down with about double the recommended liquid (milk in my case) to make it even possible for me to choke down. The consistency is pretty awful and I think it pretty much ruins the drink if you aren’t adding much more water/milk. If it wasn’t for that, I’d probably stick with this. Unfortunately I’ll be looking around for an alternative.
