Pros: Exactly as advertised (Aroma Season Heated Eye Mask for Dry Eyes, Warm Eye Compress with Flaxseed Graphene FIR). Mask rests directly on the eyeballs, with the right squishiness and heaviness to stay put (I guess that’s the flaxseed filling). Makes contact with the full eye, not just resting on the socket or cheekbones. Nice and maybe warm enough. The control is a snap to work.
Cons: I used it at its highest setting and it’s warm, but I wish there were a little hotter setting. The cord is a pain, but I didn’t see a cordless version of this slim flaxseed kind of mask. But FIR refers to light–Far Infrared. Where does the Far Infrared Light come in???
Anyway, works like a charm and I like it.

Works well, avoids the gel bag heating in the microwave. Portable, you can plug in at any outlet.

Short version:
-You choose a temp of Low/Medium/High, not a specific temp degree
-Unscented
-Timer only has 20/40/60 min options, and heating up is part of that time
-Does not beep or make any noise
-Cannot sleep with it
-No battery, must be plugged in to heat
-USB cable is about 76.5” long, comes with outlet converter
-Strap is a simple slider buckle on elastic
-Washable cover is a plus but it slides around
Overall I’m happy with the product and would recommend it!
Long version:
I’m prone to infections in general throughout my body, so styes are common for me. Sometimes the styes even become chalazions and one in the past was persistent enough it had to be surgically removed.
So my doctor recommended I start taking omega-3 fish oil* and using a hot compress as a daily habit even when there are no active eye infections to help with preventing future ones, in addition to using it to treat any active infections. I used to use a washcloth run under hot water multiple times a day, but it interrupted my life a lot. So my doc said to try a heated eye mask (so it doesn’t cool as quickly as a wash cloth) for 10+ minutes three times a day instead, and to massage the area around any active infections with clean hands afterwards.
First I made a rice eye mask to heat in the microwave. It was easier/less messy and retained heat longer than a wet washcloth so it definitely was an improvement. But after a few months of that I noticed that I wasn’t doing it three times a day because it was a bother to get up to go microwave it, and annoying to have to lie down for it so it wouldn’t fall off my eyes. I gradually did it less often.
I figured I’d be more likely to stick to the habit if I kept an electric mask that I didn’t have to get up to prepare for use by my usual spot/recliner. Bonus, with a strap it’d stay on my face and I could sit up/recline instead of having to lie down on the bed or couch.
After reading many reviews for several comparable products, I decided to purchase this Aroma Season heated eye mask. So far I am pleased with it.
It has temperature settings you can easily switch between of low, medium, and high. It doesn’t say anywhere on the box or user manual what the degrees of those setting are, unfortunately, but that may be intentional on their part, as the manual states: “How warm it feels depends on the environment temperature. The environment temperature difference could be more than 50°F between winter and summer. It’s suggested to use high mode on cold days and low mode on hot days.
Stop heating when feeling too hot. Be care of moderate temperature burn.”
I found medium to be the most comfortable setting for me right now. My doctor recommended always testing heated masks (no matter the type) against the inner wrist before applying to your eyes to avoid accidentally using too high of a temperature.
Thankfully there is no smell, despite the brand being “Aroma.” I’m pretty sensitive to scents, but heated or heated I smell nothing from this. I’m happy about that!
It has timer settings for 20, 40, and 60 minutes, but the timer starts the moment you turn it to that setting, even though it takes several minutes to reach full temperature. So though at first I was disappointed I couldn’t set it for whatever time I wanted, which in my case was 10 minutes, it worked out because the 20 min setting takes about 5-7 minutes to reach full temperature anyway. That way I get 10+ min at full temperature before it shuts itself off.
You can turn it off manually if you press and hold the temperature control button, if you want to stop it before the timer ends. But there is no “on” button for the heat to stay on indefinitely or to preheat before starting the timer. There is only the button for the three temperature settings and the button for the three timer settings, and you must pick a timer setting for it to begin heating. The screen (dark screen/lit up white numbers) on the controller counts down from the selected time, after which it automatically turns off. Heating up is part of that timer setting’s active time.
There is no noise: no beeping of the buttons, no alarm or notification that the timer is over, no sound of the heating element kicking on/off, etc. This is a plus in my book, but may be a hindrance for those who are blind and can’t see the settings on screen, or for those who want an audible notification that the time is up. It just stops heating, so you won’t notice it’s over until you think, “Wait, is this not as warm as it was a minute ago?” and check the controller.
Some of the reviews here say they like that it quietly turns off automatically because then they can wear it to bed and fall asleep, but the box and manual say multiple times NOT to ever wear this while sleeping or unconscious. I presume it’s dangerous to do so both because the cable could be a choking hazard and because it’s possible to get a burn even from low temperatures if worn long enough, so the user needs to be conscious to be aware if it’s getting uncomfortably hot on their skin.
There is no way to use it without the cord because there is no battery. It must be plugged in to heat. You cannot microwave or otherwise manually heat the eye mask because the cable is built into it.
The cable end is a USB but it comes with a USB power adapter so that you can plug it into an outlet. The cable from mask to the end of the USB plug is about 76.5 inches long. From mask to the end of the female jack is about 6 inches and from the male jack to the controller is about 11 inches (in other words, from mask to the top of the controller is about 17 inches).
The strap to keep the mask on is a simple plastic slider buckle on an elastic strip. Should fit all head sizes as it has a wide adjustable range. My head curves in the back right where I’d want the strap to be so it either slides up and makes the mask not stay on my eyes just right or it slides down and presses on the tops of my ears. Not ideal, but after getting used to it I’ve learned how to put it on my head so that I’m comfortable. Others who have a different shaped head likely won’t have this issue.
Though the mask itself is blue on the outside and gray on the inside, the mask cover is all gray so you don’t see the blue. It came with a washable cover, which I appreciate as the mask itself is not washable. I wish it came with two covers so one could be in use while the other is in the laundry, but oh well. It’s not a fitted cover, so it would be easy to copy it and make another. It’s just a rectangle with a snap in the middle, to wrap around the eye mask and hold it in place. But because it isn’t fitted (sewn to fit the shape of the mask) it kind of slides around while in use, which is annoying only because the rectangle is three strips of fabric instead of one, and only the middle section is soft. So if it slides a bit you may have some slick material instead of just soft jersey material partially touching your face. So for this simple cover design it would have been better if the whole rectangle was the same soft fabric, but it’s not that big of a deal. Maybe I’d take a half star off my review because of the cover if I could, but it’s not worth knocking a whole star off for. I’m just glad there’s a removable cover at all.
Overall I’m pleased with the product. Despite some changes needed to reach perfection, this certainly is an improvement over a microwaved rice eye mask.
*The supplement I use is Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega 1280mg omega-3 fish oil, which I buy here on Amazon. The brand my doctor recommended was out of my budget, but when I chose this instead they were still pleased because it has EPA and DHA in it (cheap brands don’t and so they’re not effective). Please consult your doctor before taking fish oil yourself, but if you have frequent eye infections like I do it’s worth talking to them about possibly adding it to your regimen. And if you already take an omega-3 supplement, have your optometrist check the label on yours to see if it’s of good enough quality to be effective or if you’re wasting your money on something that doesn’t actually help. It can be hard to stomach paying more for a better brand but it makes a difference!

I want to change my review from a two to a five-star review for the Aroma Eye Mask. My first review stated it was not working correctly and did not heat. I was wrong. The electrical outlet that I used needed to be fixed. My husband fixed the problem, and now my eye mask works great. The mask heats my eyes and helps me tremendously with dry eye syndrome. I highly recommend it to anyone with dry eye problems. It is an excellent product because of the price and ease of use.

I am updating my prior review to 5 stars. First, incredible and unusually great customer service !!
The company reached out to me because they read my review and followed up . I was surprised ! They noted that I had an older version and possibly a defective device , as mine got too hot and had no good temp controls or timer.
They sent me a replacement . This one has 5 temp levels settings, which correspond to actual temperatures noted in the directions, so you can choose the heat levels based on the actual temperature you need – PLUS a built in timer for 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 minutes . This mask has a built in temp sensor that PREVENTS overheating . It is still the same size and softness and has a wide flat elastic band that easily adjusts for size and the amount of pressure you want against your eyes .
It comes with its own charging block , one side takes the device cable and the other side is the end that plugs into the wall outlet . Be sure to use this block as it does not get warm/ hot like other blocks can .
I use the mask for dry eye relief and it is truly helping . It’s the best mask I’ve ever used for this . I use it EVERY day and then use the eye wipes and preservative free drops my eye doctor recommends . I have significantly better relief and eye comfort using the mask . I feel like the daily use of this mask is making my eyes better . I use it during the day and the auto shut off timer prevents overheating the skin around and over your eyes . Do not sleep in it as it has a cord that stays attached . I use a separate sleep mask at night to help keep drafts off my eyes . I use this mask 1-2 times daily but you can use it more if needed because it is adjustable for temp and time and has safety features to keep it from getting too hot .
I highly recommend this current product version from this company , it is better, safer and works for the purpose — and their customer service is above and beyond- most impressive and caring .
OLD review :
I have had this for about a year and replaced it .
There are no temp settings ,it’s only low, medium and high, not the degrees options shown . There are only 20/40/60 minute time options , again, not as shown .
The longer it is on the hotter it gets even if set on low . Medium gets pretty hot .
Hot gets way too hot for thin eyelid skin .
The ophthalmologist’s recommended 108 degrees for 15 minutes as shown in the description are not even available / possible with this product .
It is a good size to focus warmth on the eye area without also heating facial skin . The fabric is soft .
There is zero aroma .
This was expensive for what it actually is , so is not a good value for the money .
If you need it for dry eyes this is not therapeutic . It’s more suitable for ‘ relaxing “ but it still can get too hot so use caution, you must set your own timer to use it less than the big time increments it has.
Overall if this is for your eye health – shop around and get one with an adjustable temp and timer .

Wow! This really works and it feels good. I had an optometrist tell me to use hot compresses on my eyes for 10-15 minutes a day and then use baby shampoo to wash them because of clogged glands. This worked but it was so cumbersome to continually go and run the tap until the water was hot repeatedly.
This is so easy to use continually for 20 minutes and it feels good. It can be used with the power on the left or right and the cord is quite long. I’ve been using it at mid-heat and it works well.
