It definitely gets warm and about as warm as promised. It only stays on for 45 minutes or so on any setting. The “red” setting is probably the only one that has much value. The heating element is centered in the pad and is fairly small relative to the size of the whole pad.
One thing to be aware of is the turn on sequence might be a little confusing at first:
* Plug in to USB power and the power LED/button flashes red-blue-green-off. The pad is now powered, but off.
* Press and hold the power LED/button for ~ 2 seconds and the LED should light up red indicating maximum output. The pad will get warm, not hot, but a little warm. It is only really effective if used with a layer of insulation like skinblanket-air. If you don’t insulate it, most of the heat radiates away.
* To choose a different heat output, use a momentary press on the illuminated power button: red->blue->green (warm, not very, hardly).
* To turn off, press and hold the illuminated button for ~2 sec.
* The unit will turn itself off in about 45 minutes and has to be turned back on.

So I didnt buy this for myself but rather my bearded dragon. We were traveling from cali to north Carolina and I needed something that fit inhis carrying case that I could feed through to plug in and this was perfect. It kept him warm and comfortable the whole drive. The USB port was what sold me as I couldn’t fit a normal plug through the hole of his cage but the USB fit perfectly. No issues the whole 36 hour drive. He was warm and happy and the best travel companion thanks to this!!!

I plug this in and the lights came on just like they were supposed to but it didn’t really heat up and then the light went off and I have not been able to get it to work since. Unfortunately, I’ve had this for a while but only took it out of the box yesterday and looks like I missed my window for returning it. What a waste of money!

I love how soft and thin it is and the fact that I can use it in my car. The hot setting is not unbearably hot. The only thing I don’t like is the auto shut-off but that is standard nowadays.

This is probably moot, since as of today I see the product is “currently unavailable”. I just bought it this month.
It does heat. Green and blue levels are pointless (unless maybe you’re sensitive or a baby). I need the red.
The heating element does not fill the whole pad; it just kind of runs down the longer center. So the size is a bit deceiving because you’re not getting 12″x12″ of actual heat.
On the first night, I had it plugged into a portable power bank. It worked nicely for keeping my feet warm–though I could only have it on the top or bottom, could not wrap it because of the size I bought. So my feet were *partially* warmed by it. Can’t be mad about that, other than thinking the whole size was heated.
I learned today that it does NOT work when plugged directly into the wall!! That makes no sense to me, but hey, I’m no electrician. It would flash red-green-blue as it does at first to indicate it’s receiving power, but when I’d press the button to turn on to solid red, it kept flashing through the three each time and would not stay on.
I figured it was toast and was about to return it (before I read the other commenter’s note about the cost to ship it back), but then I tried it again in the power bank I had used the first night–and it worked! So that’s kinda stupid because I have to keep the power bank handy just to use this little strip of warmth, and you would think that you could just plug it into the wall, like the features made it sound like you can do. And why wouldn’t that work? Any electricians out there reading this?
So it might help if I have a tiny area of muscle pain, way tinier than the blanket itself, and I’ll go ahead and use it for as long as it lasts…which, judging by my own experience so far and the fact that it’s unavailable, I’m guessing won’t be long. Or maybe they were just that popular and sold out, and they’ll be available again soon.
If so and if you choose to purchase it, just be prepared to need a power bank in case your wall outlet doesn’t work, and know that the heat isn’t the whole size of the blanket.

This worked wonders in the car for long road trips for my back discomfort! I will say, it only worked in the USB that was built into my car. I tried using it in the cigarette lighter USB attachment I have, and it didn’t work. So no problem for me, but something to think about for your car. It gets real hot on the high setting, perfect!

I got this because I wanted to take one apart and see how they worked really, and this cheap chinese thing was exactly the right sort of low quality basic engineering I wanted to see. Its also a good way to show people through the photos here of what they are getting.
The fabric was designed well enough that I ended up having to cut it open at one of the sides, as I tried very carefully to pick it open by the threads but it was too well sowed for that. So thats at least one decent portion of this.
The powerflow for high power mode was stable too. So that was good. It used intermittent pulses for the other power modes, less frequently for the lowest.
The actual heating area, was pretty much the circled spot, a little more square than my circle but it was very weak around the edges, hard to tell where it was heating, till I opened it up to see what was inside.
After cutting it open, I took a photo of this with light behind it so you can see whats inside the fabric with the heating wires. It appears to have a temperature sensor, I’m not sure what that is, which indicates that there is at least a safety switch in there so thats good. Possibly just barely enough to pass international quality requirements.
Now that I deconstructed it, its not returnable. I’ll just have to see if I can repurpose it for something else now and make it more useful, while keeping the fabric around for padding something of mine that I lay against frequently.
