When I’m stuffed up and can’t breathe through my nose, I tend to get anxious. I keep a bottle of Afrin at my bedside, and know that I can get myself breathing easily within minutes, by using just a puff or 2 in each nostril. It will keep things decongested for a good 12 hours. Caution: DO follow the instructions about not using this every day, as you’ll become dependent on it and get a rebound effect. I use it every so often, and haven’t become dependent on it. It really works within a few minutes, and will totally open up your sinuses. Unlike the “old days” when nose drops used to drip into the back of your throat, not anymore. This “pump” style action dispenses a consistent amount each time, and it goes in as a fine mist w/o any dripping. It’s also more hygienic, in that you don’t squeeze the bottle, thus sucking in germs in the process. It’s a “one-way” applicator and it doesn’t become contaminated with use. Go for it. (This dual pack is a great buy, as each bottle has a full 20ml in it, vs. the smaller quantity in the single use packages.)

This no drip spray goes where it is directed and has been the most effective product I have found to open my sinuses so I can breathe through my nose. I can use less since the effects last longer for me.

Afrin is amazing. I have a horrible sinus staph infection, and this thing is the only reason I can breathe and taste.
Unfortunately, this is really not ideal at all for long-term issues. I highly highly recommend going to an ENT doctor if you suffer from chronic nasal/sinus problems. I had no idea that I had such a bad deviated septum, and the MRI really shocked me. I had a surgery done to straighten it, and to lower the swelling…
Unfortunately.. it looks like this isn’t the end.
But Afrin is a freakin miracle. Don’t use for an extended period of time unless your doctor is cool with it! It can make your sinus issues worse and recurring, and it just doesn’t have great ingredients. Meaning it’s not the most natural and safe product to use continually if unnecessary.. people choose more natural alternatives that work, like the Neti pot, or breathing in steam from a pot of water on the stove, with tee tree oil and peppermint oil inside. A little essential oil can go a long way! There are other options as well, but if you are like me, with chronic recurring nasal blockage, go see an ENT. Trust me on that. You may have a real problem without knowing it.
But if you desperately need to breathe right now, wow. Afrin does the trick almost immediately, with 2-3 sprays in each nostril. Use 1 spray if that does the trick. The minimum needed is best.
This stuff is powerful!!
This is the No Drip Severe Congestion one.. it has a fairly strong, menthol, minty scent. I’m fond of the Extra Moisturizing kind. It doesn’t have the same menthol that’s in this. And so I believe it can be handled better by younger people- the Extra Moisturizing.
Either way, both have a no drip formula, which prevents all the liquid from running down your throat. I recommend not laying down completely right after using this nasal inhaler. Also, after use, it helps if you close each nostril seperately and breathe in as hard as you can to make sure the stuff gets all up in there.
Good luck. This stuff is addicting so be careful. They recommend using this for only 3 days.

I’ve recently been suffering from a nasty sinus infection. My doctor recommended Afrin and I am SO glad I tried it. It made a believer out of me. First off this product uses a pump similar to a steroid based nasal spray that i’m using. The pump let’s out the right amount each time.
What I like about Afrin is that it works right away. There’s no dripping out of your nose or nasal spray running down the back of your throat with the typical bottle spray applicator. This product has a nice menthol feel to it so that helps to open up your sinuses quickly. There was a slight sting but not too bad. All the congestion went away with 25 minutes.
I’ll definitely recommend this product from now on to anyone who has either a stuffy nose or sinus aliments.

Extremely effective at opening up my nasal passages. If it wasn’t for the problem of dependency I’d use this nearly every day! My pet/seasonal allergies turn me into a mouth-breather on a regular basis. It can even be very unsettling to feel like you can only breathe through one orifice! I hope I never get kidnapped and my mouth duct-taped or that will be it for me. This also causes serious sleep apnea issues. Afrin fully opens my nose (no matter how swollen-shut) so I can breathe like what I imagine normal people always can! Unfortunately Afrin comes with a serious risk of dependency if you use it more than 4ish days in a row, as-in: rebound congestion reportedly far worse than what you’re trying to control. You know, like cocaine and most hard-core narcotics.
