Soothing to the skin where ever you apply and smell good. The smell gone on the next day after you put it at night which is good as you don’t need to carry that menthol smell at work. As with regards of relieving pain its more about soothing your skin and the smell which offer psychological anesthetic effect.
FYI –
I’ve tried many popular pain creams with similar ingredients and never had any issues or reactions. I don’t have any allergies that I’m aware of. The Advil Targeted Relief Cream worked great at first when I put it on my knees, calves and lower back before going to bed in a cold room. It was nice and icy and on the stronger side relative to other pain creams, but the next morning while working out, the areas where I used the cream the night before started burning and the skin became irritated as my body began heating up from my workout. Any exposure to heat made it worse, I went into the dry sauna and my skin was burning to the point that I had to get out. Took a cold shower and used soap to try removing any residue of the cream from my skin but it only cooled down for a little bit until my body naturally warmed up a little later. The burning sensation returned, although more tolerable and mild than earlier in morning- and even felt cooling as well- as long as I stayed in a cool environment.
This cream is very strong and intense and its residual effects do not “wear off” for many hours after its intended duration. I really liked this product at first and would have definitely continued using it for pain if it didn’t have this long lasting side-effect which seems to be triggered by heat. It has a strong mentholated smell which didn’t bother me since I usually apply stronger creams like this at night before bed. If you plan to use this product, I strongly recommend staying away from any heat for at least the following 12 hours. If it didn’t have these side effects, I’d give it 5 stars.

I suffer from RLS, and pain in my knees legs, and also arms, I work in a care setting so on my feet alot, this does for me work better then bio-freeze. Please use a glove or wash hands after applying, as if you touch other areas of your skin it will act the same as to applied area.

I am no stranger to pain relieving gels creams lotions everything from Biofreeze icy hot Bengay Aspercreme blue emu your name it I’ve done it when I saw this, I thought oh that’s from Advil, let’s try it! rubbed it on my elbow yesterday morning at about 9 AM felt like any other gel or cream, went about my day. Last evening, started to itch and burn. Woke up at about 1 AM and seriously thought My electric blanket had caught on fire. My elbow was just burning like I fell asleep at the beach with no sunblock on. Then when I went to take a shower later, it burned to even have water touched my skin just there I had used this. Obviously I had to use water because I needed to wash this stuff off, 3 hours later finally starting to calm down,but it was excruciating to say the leas. This is going right in the trash. I’ll stick to the advil dual action caplets.

It has the smell and felling of bengay. It’s very strong and helps. I can’t say it’s any better. But it works. Too bad it has the same bengay smell.

Works so well! Be careful, the capsaicin stayed on my hands even after I washed them. Don’t touch your eyes! I use it for the tops of my feet, it works so well! It is strong smelly of peppermint but no one said anything. I use it almost every day, the best I have used so far!
