I haven’t used 5-hour energies regularly in years but recently picked these up for when I feel I need a boost. These flavors taste better than those I remember taking 10+ years ago.

The name says it all. The package advises to drink half a bottle at time and wait several hours for the other half. I use before and a couple of hours into work.

Along with many healthcare professionals, I do not typically recommend reliance on an artificial energy boost. Yet there are occasional time when a high dose of caffeine may be beneficial . . . for some. I’m wired from too much caffeine—2.5 times a typical cup of coffee. The vitamins are incidental here. It’s all about a quick and convenient buzz at $2.50 a bottle.

If what you need is a pick me upper by means of mostly caffeine, this is a good pick me up without having to drink a big 16oz energy drink. There is no calories or carbs, so don’t expect this to be a real energy drink, all it is a heavily concentrated energy caffeine drink. Great for the times you just need extra focus and energy to cram or study, or stay awake for a long drive. My favorite flavor is watermelon, but be warned, energy drinks like these are never really tasty so just keep that in mind. They are very potent and have an acquired taste.

I don’t like relying on energy drinks aside from actual coffee, but sometimes that’s not convenient to make. These are easy to carry with you. They taste pretty good. I don’t consume a lot of caffeine so I find half of one of these is plenty for a fairly long boost. They are resealable so that allows one to decide how much of a boost they want without wasting the rest. The added vitamins don’t hurt, but I wouldn’t overdo the use of these.

In every multi-pack of beverages there’s always one flavor that makes you think twice about buying it – you just know you’re not gonna like it. For me, that’s the watermelon in this variety pack but actually it was pretty good! I still prefer the Tropical Burst and Hawaiian Breeze flavors but all three flavors are good. I’m not a frequent user of energy shots so I stick to brands like 5-hour energy to avoid any questionable ingredients. If you’re not used to caffeine, half a shot will still give you a nice burst of energy.
