I really love the Gen 2 bottles. They’re a huge improvement over the Gen 1’s. The plastic is super thick, the lids are nice, and they take a serious beating. These things are high quality. The rounded base fixes the issue of powders settling into corners and not mixing, because there aren’t any corners to do so. It also makes them so much easier to clean. The small size is perfect for tucking away into a gym back or leaving in a backpack as a spare.
There are a few cons:
The plastics can stain, they do retain smell even after washing, and the rubber lining tends to degrade over time, which is why I give this four stars. These things do blow open if you put a carbonated drink mix into them, so be aware of that.
If you like drinking shakes, you should really get one!

Bought this to easily mix Chia pudding with protein powder. No more clumps and easy to clean. I just add a bit of dish soap and warm water, shake and then rinse.

Overall better than the V1 classic, but some room for improvement.
As some other reviewers have stated, you gotta really smack the top to close it if you want that reassuring click, and sometimes it still doesn’t click into place. When I don’t hear the click, I question if it’s really closed all the way– sometimes it is, sometimes it isn’t. I’m hoping with time and use this will improve. When the top is properly closed, it is leak proof.
The V2 classic is easier to clean after use and the measurements on the side are easier to read. I’ve never had an issue with the bottom edge of the V1 classic accumulating protein powder, because I always put some milk in the bottom before adding anything else. However, the rounded bottom of the V2 probably does help prevent that from happening. I still don’t trust it enough to add milk and powders and mix with the blender ball alone, but maybe I should have a little faith and try it. I always stir a little with a knife before adding the blender ball and never had any problems with the V1 or V2.

I’m always worried about cups leaking. I’ve used different versions of the Blender Bottle and with all of them, it’s truly just good crafting behind the simple design that saves me from leaks. There’s been a couple times where I started shaking and got sprayed by almond milk, to realize I hadn’t fully seated the lid. It has to snap when you close it and it takes a bit of force. And of course, twisted tight as well. So the almond milk spray is a user error one.
The metal ball thing is fantastic and so simple, but works. Little to no clumps! Being able to use the dishwasher to clean is also fantastically convenient.
I chose to buy this version because the 3 pack is a fantastic bargain compared to WF. I was hesitant about the different style at first since I had been using the Blender Bottle – 20 Oz. Sportmixer Mini, Assorted Colors. However, after a couple months my husband and I agreed, we like this version more than the Sportmixer. I am most pleased that the handle folds down making it compact enough to fit into my lunchbag that the Blender Bottle Sportmixer can’t because its handle gets in the way.
With the bottle’s wide bottom it doesn’t really fit in my car’s cupholders though.
Because there was a question, the markings go up to 12 oz and 400mL. My pictures (which Amazon for some reason is posting sideways) shows what 12 oz looks like and what 20 oz (adding 1 additional cup, 8oz, of liquid looks like. I always use it with the 20 oz, and as you can see by the overhead, there is still enough room to get in shake powder and the ball, although there’s less chance of spillage if those are added first, or halfway through the pour to ensure no powder sticks to the bottom.
