I have to take iron supplements and I usually hate that iron/metallic taste so, I was excited to try this. The liquid supplement had black color and a medical berry scent. The scent was pretty strong and off-putting. It reminded me of those cold medicine types of berry scented products. It also tasted like cold medicine. It wasn’t pleasant at all and the supplement had a strong metallic/iron after taste. It was disappointing that the berry taste wasn’t even pleasant and the supplement still had an aftertaste. After using the supplement, I started getting stomachaches. I used to get this when taking high dosage of iron. I think I will stick to my current iron pills.

I’ve taken Iron supplements before mostly in pill form, but this seems to be better. While I’m not sure for certain in a few weeks of taking this, my blood oxygen meter seems to be a point higher consistently. I test in about a few points lower on red blood cell count, so I have to watch my iron. I thought that red meat would help but surprisingly it does not absorb as well as you’d think. I was once hospitalized for anemic for a week, 3 days of that in the ICU, so I monitor my iron intake and check my blood tests to make sure I’m not becoming anemic again. This is a decent supplement for adults as well as kids. Taste is nothing to write home about, so if you use for kids the older ones won’t try and take too much.

Having anemia issues, iron is something I supplement daily. The liquid iron doesn’t taste bad. Because it is iron, it will have the metallic taste, but the grape flavor masks it well and is very tolerable. It’s just not easy to mix well in drinks because it is grape flavored. For that reason, I just take it as is and then follow it up with orange juice. Orange juice or vitamin c in general helps absorbtion of iron. If it weren’t grape flavored, I’d actually put it with orange juice. I tried that though and that tastes worse then it actually was alone. Kids will notice the metallic taste, but liquid is easier then pills for them and it’s a small amount daily. It’s far easier on the stomach then the pills which cause me discomfort. I’ve got no discomfort after this each morning.

This has a super metallic taste. It tastes slightyl like a berry flavor then an overwhelming metallic taste kicks in. I added it to my child’s juice to try to make it more palatable but she could not handle it. I like that it comes in drop form, but the flavor just did not work for us.

I got this liquid iron for my 12 month old. It’s recommended to give breastfeeding babies and toddlers an iron supplement, and obviously they are too young to swallow pills. I’m a bit confused by adults reviewing this because of course iron is going to taste bad! I tried it myself and it had an okay taste initially and then that classic metallic aftertaste, like you’d just put a penny in your mouth. But my 12 month old accepted it in some applesauce, so I’m going to count that as a win. He did not experience any discernible stomach upset.

I got this for myself to treat my iron deficiency, even though it’s meant for kids.
It has really good ingredients, so I had high hopes for the taste. Indeed, when I first put it in my mouth, it has a delicious sweet taste and berry flavor, like candy. Then the iron hits. The effect is rather like frolicking through a field of ripe berries and suddenly being hit with a rusty cannonball. They clearly worked really hard to cover up this iron taste with the best berry candy flavor they could manage, but it wasn’t enough. I actually sort of enjoy the bizarre contrast, but I figured there’s no way kids would tolerate this.
For the sake of writing this review, I offered tastes of this iron supplement to the rest of my family, with the warning that it tastes like a rusty cannonball. It was more of a dare than an offer. My three kids all accepted this dare, and all said that this supplement tastes just like berry candy, with nothing unpleasant about it at all. Huh.
My husband also tried it and said it tastes mostly like berry candy, with a bit of an iron aftertaste.
So, for this small sample size, I can say that kids actually do enjoy the taste of this iron supplement, and don’t notice the weird iron taste. I recommend this as a supplement for kids. Adults may be pickier.

This iron supplement is effective and easily absorbed by the body in liquid form. However, the iron flavor is strong even when mixed in a drink. Maybe the smaller doses would be OK if added to strongly flavored drinks, but the max dose in a single drink just is not tolerable to my husband.
If you really need fast-acting iron supplements, maybe it is worth the flavor and lingering aftertaste. I assume someone who needs liquid iron on a regular basis would eventually get used to it.
