…that magnesium bisglycinate and magnesium glycinate are the same thing. I thought the bottle was wrong at first, but nope! Most companies just choose the latter. (Sharing that in case you’re supplement shopping and get confused!)
As always with supplements, I can’t tell you whether these are working or not. I’ve been taking magnesium for a few months now, so I wouldn’t be able to say whether these work better or worse than the others. What I CAN say is that the capsules are identical to both the other magnesium brands I’ve had. They don’t taste weird, the capsule size is the same… But just to make it fancy, they come in an amber glass bottle instead of a plastic one.
My biggest complaint is that there’s no indication that these have been third-party tested, which means we have no way of knowing if the ingredients truly are what’s stated. Vitamins and supplements aren’t regulated by the FDA, which means you could be buying a bottle of capsules filled with cornstarch. Do I think that’s the case here? No, but also…I have no way of knowing one way or the other.

JJ Virgin is a celebrity nutritionist and trainer. I generally don’t like to take random generic supplements, so it’s great to see a mag from someone reputable and trusted. This is a good blend of mag bigylcinate, which is one of the most well absorbed forms, along with mag oxide. As a heads up, mag oxide can loosen the bowels, which may be a desirable effect for some of you. Biglycinate doesn’t generally have that effect, it more so reduces perceived stress and helps with relaxation for both body and mind. I am noticing all of these benefits from this supplement after just a couple weeks of use. I take it after dinner.

This stuff is for sure more effective than many similar supplements that I have tried. The quality of the ingredients is really up there. I don’t actually know anything about the person that endorses this stuff/created it…but I definitely like it. It does what I need it to do and that’s what really counts!

Issue 1: Like many magnesium products, this product label confuses rather than clarifies. Magnesium bisglycinate is a highly bioavailable form of magnesium and magnesium oxide is a form that’s poorly absorbed. Bisglycinate is less likely to cause diarrhea. Oxide is cheap and can be used to treat constipation. Either way, if you want or don’t want oxide, you want to know how much you’re getting. It’s also frustrating to purchase a product you think is glycinate and discover later it’s got a mystery amount of oxide.
Unfortunately, glycinate takes more capsules for the same dose than oxide So if you purchase a glycinate product and the dose is fewer capsules, it’s likely got oxide or other forms.
Issue 2: This product contains vegetable stearate. Recent science suggests that stearates alter immune cells. This may not be a major concern if you’re taking one supplement with stearates. But my spouse and I are taking 40. And, as older folks, we may be less able to get toxins out of the body so may be more vulnerable to their effects. It’s been an ordeal to find replacement supplements without stearates, but there are a few brands putting out products with fewer additives, including BestVite, Pure Original and Earthborn Elements.
Magnesium glycinate is said to be good for calming, sleep, muscles and bones. Your results may vary.
If you need magnesium oxide for constipation, this might be a good product for you. I was not constipated taking 2 of these daily. Nor did I experience any obvious side effects.

I have been using these for about a month now. They are easy to swallow and I have had zero reactions to them at all. Ive been a fan and a friend to JJ for a very long time. She has ALWAYS been a fan of quality and no frills kind of expert, which I appreciate. I notice that i do sleep better when i take these right before bed and I love taking magnesium as part of my total supplement program 🙂 HIGHLY recommended 🙂

It’s not often a seller will make things right. This seller did! I received a replacement, and it was intact! I have had some time to test these supplements and find them to be the quality supplements I thought I had ordered! I would definitely recommend “Magnesium Body Calm” to others who are looking for a good quality, magnesium boost to their diet!

I do like to supplement my diet with magnesium, for many reasons! Sadly, my review of “Magnesium Body Calm – Reignite Wellness by JJ Virgin”, is a low rating, as the glass/plastic material of the bottle seems to be quite brittle and weak. As a result, the bottom of the bottle had a jagged hole in it. Unfortunately, many of the capsules and pieces of the bottle came out into the shipping bag. I wouldn’t feel comfortable swallowing capsules from this particular batch. I do prefer supplements to be securely contained in a bottle or container that is safe, solid, and durable.
