I live in an area that is extremely deficient in Selenium so even though I grow my own garden, I still need a source of selenium as there is nothing in my soil to give it to my vegetables. This is a very easy way to add Selenium to my diet. It has a delicious natural strawberry taste and I add it to my morning oatmeal to make it even easier to take. This also has a Vitamin B complex with it as well as a small amount of zinc. The liquid form ensures that it will be absorbed more fully by the body. Selenium is an important trace mineral and I’m glad I found this.

That means the liquid is appropriately protected from sustaining basic, light-induced damage, and I don’t have to worry about contamination from something such as irredeemable, plastic bottling. The dropper tube is thankfully also glass, and it’s got measurement markings in milliliters quartered up tom 1mL, which is helpful for accurate dosing. Examining the product labeling, I see boasts that this uses gluten free ingredients, is a GMP quality product, is made with non-GMO ingredients, and is 100% vegan. I see no indication as to where this was manufactured, but I do see that it’s distributed by a company based in New York state. Comparing the listed Supplement Facts and Other Ingredients to those shown in the product images, I see that they match exactly. The flavor of the drops is incredibly sweet and a little tart. It tastes like strawberry candy more than actual strawberries. At a suggested serving size of 2 dropperfulls (2mL) per day, this 60mL bottle is meant to last for 1 month.

200 mcg liquid selenium in a glass bottle that has a glass dropper. The bottle came a safety seal around the dropper top. It smells and tastes like strawberry flavor. It does not smell or taste “mediciney”, but more like a strawberry syrup flavor. It is very sweet, yet the ingredients do not list any sweetener other than “strawberry flavor”. I dropped it directly on my tongue and it leaves a strong aftertaste. If you add it to food or drink, there is no aftertaste. This is not certified organic. Seems a bit overpriced for this 2 oz. bottle in comparison to similar products.

The strawberry flavoring does a pretty good job of hiding the tinny taste of the selenium. Since I eat mainly local produce from the midwest (know as a selenium dead zone….) I was super happy to find a selenium supplement for people. I supplement my livestock and horses and it really does help. Signs of deficiency include Infertility, Fatigue, Hair loss, Clouding of consciousness, Muscle weakness, Weakened immune system, Thyroid disease, Nausea, Headaches. If you are feeling generally “poorly” it could be a lot of things, including a selenium deficit. I noticed an immediate pickup in my general energy level (perhaps that was the zinc…..). Thank you selenium, vitamin B and zinc!

My husband was advised to increase his intake of selenium to improve vision and eye issues. He has taken this and said it’s easy to does and tastes like berries. Time will tell if it helps to improve his vision, but fingers are crossed that it does.
