This type of supplement is meant to be more available to your body than traditional vitamins. This particular brand is gmo, gluten and sugar free. It was developed by a diabetic who wanted high quality supplements and nothing extra added. Made in the USA.

I’ve been giving this to my child who is struggling with low ferritin. It’s been helping raise the level! These chelated iron capsules actually absorb better than ferrous sulfate alone. The large bottle has 240 capsules which is an 8 month supply if you only take 1/day. The capsules have been well tolerated. No adverse reactions seen and his energy levels have been improving! So pleased!

For me this is a good source of supplemental iron. No ill effects from it and I’m feeling a bit better.

I have been using supplements with ferrochel for a few years. They are gentle on the stomach and not constipating. For me they have low absorption but some absorption and no side effects is better than what I have experienced with some other forms of iron.

So, to preface, I’ve been taking this other product called Blood Builder iron for a LONG TIME. I’m borderline anemic. My hematocrit has been on the low side for the past several years, and so has my RBC counts. As a runner, I figured taking Blood Builder could help. You know what, though? In all the years I’ve been taking it, my blood work has come back consistently the same since before I started taking Blood Builder. I’m close to finishing a bottle of that stuff, and I’m planning on not buying it anymore. For one, it’s expensive. For 180 ct, it’s about $50. But, two, when I started re-examining the ingredients, I realized I was just taking an expensive iron pill. It’s mostly filler, and some beetroot, which I already add by 50x the amount into my smoothie. I’ve been using beet root powder for just as long. So, I realized I was just flushing down $100 a year, probably, on iron pills, when I could have just been flushing down $25 the toilet with this stuff.
So, on to this stuff. It’s just pure iron. Which is all I really need. I don’t need all that other filler crap like B12 (which they always add in huge qty’s), and Folate, and Vit C. All this stuff is already in my daily multivitamin. I just need 100% iron in the RDV. And, that’s what this stuff is. Just pure iron. It’s in a different form, so maybe this stuff will actually help my anemia? I’m hoping to see in my next blood work. I’ll update here with results. But if it doesn’t, again, I’m just flushing less money down the toilet. But, so far, what I can tell is when I open up a pill, I smell iron. The powdered stuff inside smells like blood. I taste it, it’s like liking my cast iron pan. This stuff is genuine iron! ANd in chelated form. And, it’s pretty dang cheap! I just started taking this stuff, but I’ll hold off until I finish the last few weeks worth of pills of Blood Builder. But, so far, I’m pumped about this stuff.

A lot of people aren’t aware that this form of iron, ferrous bisglycinate chelate, is more digestible and doesn’t cause constipation like the common iron supplement, ferrous sulphate. Vitamin C can be taken with regular iron to help with digestion, but again, most people don’t know or want to take an additional supplement. I’ve known some who’ve quit taking iron altogether and risked not treating their health issue to avoid the side effects. Hopefully, people like that will find and try this iron supplement before quitting. It doesn’t cause any stomach upset or constipation, and doesn’t have to be paired with vitamin C. Also, $15.95 for 240 capsules is a great deal. I need a higher dosage of iron and take 2 at a time, but it’s still a good value. Highly recommend.
*One issue: Under the “About this item” section of this listing, it states that each capsule contain 36mg of iron, but it is only 18mg.

These are smaller type capsules, with no flavor detected on the outside. I can’t make any health claims, but unlike my usual reviews, I can say that this seems to have made a slight difference, in a positive way – coincident or not – to my lab values.
I prefer taking the few supplements I do, in separate form. I take a methylated B, rather than common B complex, so I don’t want both iron and B in the same product. And, I like to take the iron, on and off. As I use it to help me with my prescribed medication side effects, as needed.
