Gave me wicked nausea and it’s crazy expensive for not a whole lot to gain.

Edit: I was given a full refund, these guys obviously seem to take the time to take care of dissatisfied customers. So I recommend you check it out, just be aware that you might get nauseous from it, I’ve never tried kava before trying this product so that might also be apart of my issue with the product. Thank you guys for doing your best to rectify my dissatisfaction!

This is my go to brand of kava, I’ve tried other brands but this is my favorite by far!! The quality of the product is consistent bag after bag! My favorite type of kava is this Pouni Ono as it is great for day time use and doesn’t promote drowsiness! Mild flavor as well.

There’s no need for me to post any photos considering my photos are like the few others that have been posted here. I just got this kava a little while ago and I am glad to have found it! It has the most unique flavor, smell, and taste profile out of all of the kavas that I have tried which are most of the kavas offered here at Amazon. Out of all of the Kavas I have tried it is within my Top 3 kavas simply due to the uplifting effect, taste, smell, and overall unique “spirit” that it carries. Do not be fooled this is not only a buy but this is a high tier specialty kava that I wish came in a pound offering. Unlike other reviewers I find that this kava is actually very peppery, spicy, and numbing using the traditional technique of preparations which is a very good thing in my book. It also almost has a floral essence in regards to its smell and flavor! Normally I wouldn’t write a review but I am actually impressed and inspired plus quite uplifted so I figured, “Why not?!”, they truly deserve it! Please keep this in stock for us Kava lovers!

I’ll preface this by saying I’ve used and enjoyed many brands of kava. I use an Aluball, cold water, and shaker if it matters.

This is my third time getting this variety from this brand. The quality has dropped A TON.

It is visually much more course, dark, tastes terrible, and is weak. Very very bad quality, not even just for the price. Terrible value.

On top of that it died out literally my entire body after 3 days of use and gave me terrible various rashes and feel utterly sick. Who knows what the heck is in this, from my research it appears to be heavy metal poisoning.

I’ve attached photos. The ones I can show anyway. It even dried it my privates to the point of peeling, after just three days. My hands went from beautiful to paper thin and wrinkly. I am devastated by how unhealthy this made my body in such a short time.

Immediately stopped use when symptoms appeared. I will never buy Kava again after this experience. Just not worth it. I’m an experienced user, and this particular batch is poison and I refuse to risk it ever again.

Unless you want full body rashes, dry skin, the hands of a seventy year old, and peeling bright red private parts STAY FAR AWAY.

I want my money back and an apology for their poor quality control and complete lack of care for their customers health. I cannot stress enough that I have used kava successfully for over a year. Even this brand used to be the cleanest/best I’d found.

This batch is different. Do not risk it.

Like the rest of you, I’ve spent a lot of the pandemic in some form of self-improvement. A big part of that has been turning away from alcohol. Aside from the fact that booze is expensive, I’ve just found it an impediment to my enjoyment of life. I hate hangovers. I am not a fan of the diminished inhibitions one gets from it. I am reminded of Nietzsche’s aphorism in Ecce Homo, “I . . . cannot advise all more spiritual natures earnestly enough to abstain entirely from alcohol.”

And this where Kava enters the frame. Over the past six months or so, I have completely transitioned to Kava for any lingering desire to get inebriated. This has been a great success. Along with learning about Kava’s adaptogenic qualities (we’re talking everything from stress tolerance, libido improvement, and mood elevation), I’ve been interested in how a simple root has uplifted the livelihoods of family farmers throughout the South Pacific. A number of formerly subsistence-level villages in places like Vanuatu, Samoa, Tonga, and the Solomon Islands have found an agricultural commodity with value for export. From my understanding, Kava cultivation has paid for formerly unheard of luxuries throughout the region: vehicles, school fees, solar panels, and mechanical farm implements. Even as a customer, I feel glad to be involved in a trade that has (so far), been free of the producer/grower exploitation that still defines so much of the “natural supplement” market.

To Koa specifically: Kava runs the gamut of effects, and depending on the region/batch/processing conditions, one’s subjective experience can be vastly different. As is said in the Kava community, Tongan Kavas are typically “heady” as opposed to “heavy.” I’ll offer a few notes on my experience as a relatively well-informed Kava fan.

First, while it is often said that Kava should be consumed on an empty stomach, I find that Koa Kava really does benefit from a long gap between meals. I enjoyed a few shells of it daily during a recent camping trip, finding there was a much stronger effect if I had abstained from eating. This makes sense, as Koa’s grog lacks that particularly potent Kava taste, making a mix that is generally on the “lighter” side. This is a fine thing, as not everyone is always in the right setting/context to consume, say, a Vanuatu Kava (known widely for its extremely and classically “sedative” effects). My ritual was typically to enjoy some Koa Kava in the morning, followed by a hike. You’ll find there’s little in the way of muscular/skeletal relief in this Kava, but that’s good if you’re looking to do a little exercise or some fishing. I’ll also mention that this Kava is not for nighttime or as a sleep aid, as it provides an energetic uplift.

Second are the psychological/mental effects. As I had my shells in the morning, I found there was far less in the way of worry. So often in a twenty-first century life, one finds that relaxation, despite being on vacation, is elusive. I was happy that Koa’s Tongan could offer me some relief and allow me to be in the moment. Whereas some heady Kavas impart an intense feeling of optimism and wellbeing, I find Koa Kava to be more meditative, as if the root is encouraging you to slow down and appreciate the passage of time. I did not notice any improved musical appreciation, which is also a typical effect of heady Kava. I’ve tried some other Tongan Kavas and found them to be a totally different experience, not necessarily worse, but certainly unlike Koa.

Overall, I think this a higher-tier Kava, especially compared to a number of other (unnamed) vendors on Amazon. There’s just so much SEO manipulation in e-commerce. Why are Noble Kavas being aggregated with tinctures or extracts? I also think Koa deserves some shine as a potential “introductory” Kava, as its effects are not overwhelming, and it lacks the earthy bitterness of a lot of other cultivars (which, personally, I love). If you’re a discerning Kava fan, this Kava has quite a bit to recommend it, too, with a solidly balanced profile of heady effects. This is a buy.

It is so weak. No point really. I’ll call Amazon to see if i can return even though I tried it
