It has become a popular supplement because it is a powerful antioxidant, and research suggests that it may protect against chronic inflammatory conditions and certain cancers.
One key benefit of Luteolin is that it’s a mast cell stabilizer—a natural antihistamine. Mast cells are a type of white blood cell that help fight infection, but they also trigger allergic reactions. Antihistamines like Cetirizine and Loratadine block these reactions but can have unwanted side-effects and only last 12-24 hours. Luteolin stabilizes the mast cells that cause allergic reactions in the first place.
This formulation of Luteolin from ASquared Nutrition contains 100 mg of pure Luteolin per serving. The only other ingredient is the vegan-friendly capsule. Some brands sell Luteolin with other flavonoids, typically Rutin or Quercetin, or add a pinch of this herb or that on the notion that more flavonoids is better. When I buy Luteolin, I want 100% pure Luteolin with nothing added, and that is this product.
A “serving” of 100 mg means two capsules, so each capsule contains 50 mg. Although advertised as “ultra-strength,” numerous Luteolin products offer 50mg per capsule. A bottle contains 120 caps, so if taken as the label suggests, this is a 60-day supply. Clinical studies on Luteolin as a mast cell stabilizer have reported the therapeutic dose is 100-200 mg per day. To get 200 mg, I take two capsules twice a day, so the bottle is a 30-day supply. Considering that, the price of this product currently seems rather high. But the quality seems high as well: in addition to vegan-friendly, it is gluten-free, made in a GMP certified facility, and third-party tested for potency and safety. Still, those on a budget may want to browse other products and compare prices.
The capsule size is medium and they’re easy to swallow. Each capsule contains a dull yellow powder, which is what pure luteolin looks like in high-quality products I’ve purchased. Another reviewer mentioned that she received a bottle with no safety seal. The bottle I received had a safety seal on the lid, a second seal inside the bottle, and both were still sealed.
Whether this supplement is “effective” is subjective and depends on diet, sleep, overall health, whether it’s a high pollen day, etc. But I can say that I have taken this Luteolin product for two weeks, and it works as well as the brand I usually buy. So based on that, I am happy with this product and would recommend it.

After my TBI (traumatic brain injury) and researching Luteolin..it became the first supplement I started taking for my brain and so far my recovery is going well so I will continue to have Luteolin as part of my regimen. My only negative is how the bottle is marked 100mg and 120capsules when each capsule is 50mg and serving size is 2 capsules which is 60 servings and misleading, I understand that all the brands seem to market this way..but for me it’s a reason not to fully trust a brand. Also if I want to take the correct mg..I have to retrain my brain to always check serving size on the back and ignore the big easy to read number on the front. I have been taking the Luteolin 100mg capsules for approximately two weeks. I have not experienced any notable side effects. I have not yet seen an outward benefit from taking the capsules. They do not seem to give me stomach upset or headache. I will continue to take them and update if needed with further time and use. They are GMP-certified and 3rd party tested but not USP-certified. I like the potential health benefits and am hopeful that they are working in a way that I cannot yet see.

My family and friends jokingly refer me to Mister Nutrition or Doctor Vitamin. I started taking supplements when I was 12 years old and have quite the collection of products I take daily. Despite all of these decades of being a nutrition nut, I have never taken Luteolin before.
My interest in this is as a mast cell stabilizer, as research has shown that Luteolin exhibits that ability. I have numerous “true” allergies that have been confirmed by RAST blood testing and also thru the needle prick tests. However, I also react to numerous other things, including several foods, for which my allergy tests always come back negative.
A couple of years ago, I had an appointment with a highly regarded doctor who theorized I might have MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome). This is a relative new area of medical research, so it can very difficult to find a doctor who knows anything about it; much less can actually provide any type of treatment plan. That means the majority of people with mast cell issues must do their own research and rely heavily on nutritional supplements.
Two days ago, I began taking this aSquared Luteolin and will continue daily. If I notice any improvements to my crazy reactions, I’ll update this review. This seems to be a quality product… free of additives and preservatives… free of common allergens… third party tested and manufactured in a GMP facility. The capsules are of typical size and easy to swallow.

The bottle and capsules are of good quality and were properly sealed/packaged. I can’t say for sure if the product is helping me internally yet, but the capsules seem to be of good quality.
