I have been taking these vitamins since I delivered my daughter 11/2014. I am breastfeeding and feel the DHA is an important vitamin for my daughter. No fishy taste or odor what so ever. Yes as others have mentioned they tend to clump together, but any pills in a gel tablet do this. I just tap the bottle on my hand before opening and the pills become separated. My daughter is now 14 months and as long as we are nursing, I will continue to take these. I may continue even after as they are a great vitamin for myself as well.

I like this product a lot. It’s tasteless, odorless, easy to swallow, and gives you 450mg of DHA and 400 IU of Vitamin D in two pills. Perfect for the first trimester in many ways.
BUT it turns out other Nordic Naturals products actually offer more omega-3s for just a bit more money–and I think it’s worth it. There’s the Ultimate Omega-D3, which give you 450mg DHA, 650 mg EPA, some other omega-3s, and also 1000 IU of Vitamin D3 in two pills. The prenatal pills cost 27 cents per pill, while the Ultimate Omega D3 is 37 cents per pill. (OK, the Ultimate pills are definitely bigger, but they go down surprisingly easily.)

After researching fish oils, I found out that the fish they use to make the product and source of the fish are crucial to the quality of the oil. Many brands harvest their fish from god knows where and can have contaminants including high levels of mercury. I am confident in this product knowing exactly what types of fish they use and that they have been harvested from the deep waters of the Nordic Sea. Although you can never be entirely sure what they say is true, I know one thing, something is different about their product. I am pretty sensitive to fish oil and other ones have made me sick. This is the only one that has worked for me. I will continue to buy this line.
Note: I have also tried their strawberry flavored fish oil and the first batch I got was fantastic. I actually ate them like candy, chewing on the pills. However, the next batch I got was more fishy and couldn’t eat them like candy anymore. Nevertheless, when I swallowed them, they didn’t produce any fishy aftereffects.

I’ve been taking these since I became pregnant with my son 2.5 years ago. Good quality & totally taste fine. Kept taking post birth & still now since TTC again. Much better price than Whole Foods! ** oh and my son is as sharp as a tack too! 🙂

I love this fish oil ticket through both pregnancies and can still continue to take it now I love it because it’s clean no fishy aftertaste and I can really notice a difference when I stop taking it.

I rarely write reviews but I felt the need to comment on these supplements. My wife has a hard time swallowing pills and apart from taking her daily prenatal multivitamin she wasn’t very keen about taking anything else. I originally purchased Omega-3 pills from a local store and they remained untouched due to the size of the pills. I figured I’d give Nordic Naturals a shot as the reviews were very positive and luckily my wife loves them! They are high quality, fairly small, and easy to swallow. I couldn’t ask for much more and I’ve already purchased a second bottle.

I recently completed my master’s thesis about the benefits of DHA and fetal/infant cognitive development. I found that the benefits of DHA are inconclusive when it comes to improving IQ but can be detrimental to brain development if DHA is deficient. I also found that most people in the United States do not eat the recommended daily amount of DHA, fish consumption. This puts the developing fetus at risk for cognitive delays. I would highly suggest decreasing this risk by supplementing with DHA. This supplement is also very important to take while nursing because it passes into the breast milk and crucial for brain development in early infancy.
Research has also shown a direct correlation between DHA consumption and DHA levels found in breast milk. Interestingly, DHA added to formula is marketed ‘as closer to breastmilk’ because breast milk contains high levels of DHA.
Bottom line take DHA during pregnancy, especially in the last semester and while breastfeeding your growing little Einstein. Give your baby’s growing brain DHA!

My husband is a freak when it comes to making sure I take the right supplements. He’s become even worse now that I am pregnant. I have been taking the Nordic Natural Prenatal DHA since about my 3rd month, and I have to say that if find them very easy to take. I was a little worried that there would be a fishy taste or smell, but since I keep these in the freezer, I don’t have any aftertaste or fishy burps.
On the ease of purchase, I love the fact that these are available to purchase at my convenience. I live about 30 minutes from the nearest Vitamin Shoppe (where I used to purchase these), so having these delivered to my door is fantastic. I just wish these were on the Subscribe & Save program so I wouldn’t have to remember to go online to place my order. I’m pretty bad at remembering stuff like that and that was before the pregnancy! 🙂
