My initial impression of this 4oz. bottle of black seed oil was positive. The bottle was enclosed in a box that was sealed with cellophane. The lot number, production date, and expiration date were clearly stamped on the box. So far, so good. Out of the box, I noticed the bottle had a very light film on the exterior. No big concern, maybe dribbled on at the production line or slight leakage from the bottle. However, that got me to looking at the cap real close before loosening the cap. I noted that the cap was not sealed on with a plastic collar that normally snaps when we open our bottles these days. No securing collar was there at all. So I thought that’s okay if the bottle is still sealed under the cap. But after removing the cap, I discovered there was no inner seal either. So now I don’t know if this is standard practice with this brand or perhaps a returned or even tampered with bottle. Safe to use it or not?
Next, I compared my existing brand I’m currently using and OnPoint side-by-side. The picture reflects the difference in the color of the oil. That in of of itself isn’t a huge deal due to geographical sources can make a difference. Next I smelled the two products. My existing brand had a mildly peppery scent. The OnPoint? No scent at all was detectable to me. Upon a small taste test, my existing brand had a rich dark flavor. The OnPoint had only the barest detectable taste to me. I also discovered that the dropper/cap that was included in the box was the wrong size for the bottle so you have to continue using the original cap and keep the dropper separately. Both products are within penny’s per ounce being the same price. Normally I would use the product a while and try to gauge potency/quality. However, unless I hear from the seller or others that this is the usual way OnPoint seals it’s bottles, I’m not sure I’m comfortable using it.

So I don’t fully know if this works as people say this does when added as a supplement but if it does then this particular one is worth it. Flavor not too bad but leaves after taste. I have not used it as a topical but will do since it seems to also be good for skin and hair.

Overall: Recommended! Great product for supporting improved immune function and for skin and hair health in our opinion the bottle packaging is fine and the safety seals are doing the job. We like to check with our care practitioner before starting a new supplement and this one seemed fine : ) Cheers!

There are several things wrong with this product. First of all, the dropper cap doesn’t screw in place, so I have to keep the original cap on this and only bring out the included dropper to dispense the oil as I use it. I am confused about how to take this. The product description and packaging both refer to this as a supplement. I assume that means that it is to be ingested orally. The product description states that this is beneficial to hair and skin when applied topically. When I apply this to my scalp and hair, it makes my hair oily and flat. When I apply this to my face, it doesn’t layer well with my other skincare products and rolls off my skin in waxy clumps. When I take this orally, it leaves an unpleasant aftertaste in my mouth.

This doesn’t have much of a smell. I’m not exactly sure how it “should” smell. It definitely does NOT smell rancid, though. I’m using this on my skin to plump it up and it seems soothing. I haven’t brought myself to drink it.
One thing I found strange was that there is a dropper enclosed with the bottle, yet it doesn’t fit the bottle to screw on (to swap out with the normal cap.) I’m perplexed with why this company would include a dropper that doesn’t fit the bottle. It isn’t the most convenient to keep the dropper separate from the bottle, and makes using the dropper a bit messier.
