My previous review was from 2011 when I first started using herbs to help control my blood sugar and sugar cravings. I used this herb with Banaba and my sugar cravings went away. In fact, after being on this herb for a few months I didn’t want sugar at all and if I did try to eat a candy it would make me nauseous.
I had to stop using these herbs during my pregnancy with my son and didn’t come back to them again till now, 3 years later.
This worked before to stop my sugar cravings and I am hoping it will work again- this time I am on insulin instead of oral medications and my A1c is 7.2, without using any herbal supplements or insulin. My next A1c is this summer to see how well the insulin is doing and hopefully by then the Gymnema will have stopped all my sugar cravings-which I seriously feel like a chocolate junkie and quitting cold turkey was not going to work.
I plan to start using Banaba again along with this.
I’ve been using this product for 4 months now with other Swanson herbs to control my type 2 diabetes. Metformine doesn’t keep my GL stable all day or sometimes at night, so I wanted to try something else naturally to help. I’ve not had any side affects, nor does it cause low blood sugar in me. I take 1 before each meal with a couple other Swanson herbs to keep my blood sugar stable and it works well. I’ve tried some other health food store brands and for me they work just fine, but there was no difference between theirs and this one or any other Swanson product I am taking now.
Always monitor your GL when on a new herb or vitamin to see how it will react in your body, because everyone is different.2011

These smell grassy (not unpleasant), but I don’t think they are really doing anything to change my desire to eat. At least after 2 months, I’m not noticing a difference and neither is the scale so I don’t plan to get these again.

Wow I love this product. I am a sugar girl oh yes. Ask me do you want a slice of cake or nice juicy steak. I will go with cake anytime. The day I got this product I had no desire to eat sugar items. My blood pressure went down . I feel better but you don’t know how or where I would eat chocolate. I have sugar items in my house and they are still here. Give it a try

I tell everybody I know, this stuff lowers my blood sugar! I continue to take my other meds, but this dropped my A1C from 9 to 7.6. Try it, you have nothing to lose except your high blood sugar readings. You can purchase directly from Swanson.com at a reduced price, but it does not get delivered as fast as Amazon. I am a huge Amazon fan, but if you are not in a hurry, it is worth saving some $’s buying direct. I take 2 tabs in the morning and 1 at night along with my other meds. I do NOT take insulin

Took this early in the day after coffee along with other supplements. Purchased because I read in a .nih.gov report it can take away your desire for sugar. Perhaps it was the placebo effect, but my taste-buds got a rude awakening when trying something sweet – there was no “sweet” taste!
This was when doing low-carb/keto meal plan and I caved and asked a family member for an Oreo cookie. It was like chalk in my mouth! Definitely weird, but totally helped with not wanting something sweet. After spitting that out, decided to go for my favorite junk-food/no-natural-ness snack: Lucky Charms. Nope. Did not taste sweet. Very unusual experience, but for stopping eating sugary foods, it works for me (spit out the cookie because it was like eating salty chalk and dumped the cereal for basically the same reason). Not sure what will happen down the road, but after just trying it, it is a good supplement fo rme.

The last 2x I have ordered this I got horsetail. The actual product does work but have to get what I ordered inorder to have it work the Amazon label that is put on the bottle for Amazon to sort products is incorrect as the last 2 months I have gotten horsetail. Amazon has yet to pull and fix this in their warehouse which is a huge disappointment

I’ve had this product for about a month now, and I’m quite pleased, as it works well, and is an excellent value. It works best for me on an empty or nearly empty stomach, right before eating a meal. Definitely try it first when you don’t have to drive anywhere, etc., just to be sure it won’t crash your blood sugar too far, too fast. Personally, I don’t experience any lightheadedness when taking them this way. The x date on my bottle is October 2024, so plenty of time to get them used up. I don’t take these every day, only when I feel sugar is calling my name. As an example, I woke up this morning craving my favorite cookies with powdered sugar frosting. And when I say craving, I mean Jones-ing. A “cannot focus on anything else” kind of craving. Took a capsule with a cup of coffee, and about 15 minutes later, I was fine. Ate a normal breakfast. The cookies are no longer calling my name. 👍🏻.
