The supplement packaging etc. is fine but please get your TSH levels tested if you are taking this and let your doctor know about this and other supplements. For some people I’m sure this works great but for others (like me) it is the opposite of good for your thyroid and can cause health issues.

Love how these make me feel, especially during PMS. Not too strong. I probably take them every other day before my period starts to avoid sore breasts and joints. Tried and true PMS helper! Definitely need to make sure your thyroid is OK before trying though.

I deliberately chose an RDA (150 mcg. per pill) iodine supplement. And, there aren’t many to choose from as far as I know. I want to err on the side of caution while at the same time supporting thyroid, breast and other health. We in the US are getting about 50% of the iodine we once did 40-50 years ago. Hypothyroidism has become really common.
I didn’t expect much but have been surprised that on the 2 to 3 days a week I take this iodine supplement I have notable increased energy. I deliberately preceded taking this iodine with selenomethionine supplementation for a few weeks. My oldest son was less conservative; taking a pill several days in a row and found himself unable to sleep one night. He will be more careful now. My youngest son (more cautious in his taking of this Potassium Iodide) also noticed the not unpleasant energizing effects. He said it completely and immediately cured a mild chronic sinus infection he’d had for a few months. Iodine is a powerful natural antiseptic that folks were more familiar with in the old days. I’m awed. It is really something to have on hand!
Iodine/Potassium Iodide should be added conservatively until you know how you respond as an individual. There are factors to consider. I live within 100 miles of the Pacific Ocean and eat plenty of dairy and fish so am likely getting some good iodine on those counts. I will continue to take this Nature’s Plus Potassium Iodide 150 mcg. 2 to 3 times a week as it makes me feel good and and supports good health in many ways. I really never expected to experience a noticeable effect!
The pills dissolve easily (a good thing for absorption) so be prepared with a glass of water or juice or a pill may dissolve in your mouth before you can choke it down. I lean my head and neck forward some, to trick my gag reflex, as I’m swallowing chalky pills. These pills are medium sized. All in all I’m impressed with Nature’s Plus Potassium Iodide 150 mcg.s! I will buy this product as long as it remains of this quality.

I am taking this to help treat erythema nodosum. Due to sarcoidosis. I had read about it helping medication resistant chronic cases. It’s TRUE for me. After 30mg of prednisone daily, hydroclorinique, and several other medications this is working best. Doesn’t stop lesions but greatly reduces pain and inflammation.

This provides the exact RDA of Potassium Iodide. Nutritionists, for the most part, neglect to tell us some history and an important fact. Years ago iodine was added to most consumer salt, to prevent some recurring thyroid gland disorders in the population. Now, we are being told to put aside the salt shaker, and so that strategy may not work. Be aware that sea salt does not contain any extra iodine if you think it a better salt. So many foods are heavily salted, but with salt that was never “iodized.” Taking the RDA of iodine in this pill should cause no harm from overdose if taken as directed. Just one pill a day is enough to nourish your thyroid. There is some iodine in a normal diet – more or less of it as when it was thought beneficial to add iodine to salt meant for food. There is more information on the web about “iodized salt.”

The product quality is excellent and I appreciate that it comes with a slip of paper that reproduces a miniature lab report on the product. I wouldn’t normally care but with the rash of scandals in the supplements industry it adds a vote of confidence. The reasons it doesn’t get five stars – mainly because price is on the high side and I keep suspecting there’s a better deal on a trustworthy brand (though I have not found such a brand in about 2 years of looking everytime I need to order a bottle). Also I am trying not to give out five stars so easily. Finally there’s always some mystery with iodine from kelp, natural products don’t necessarily have the same amount of iodine from batch to batch, how do they make sure there’s no overdose. (I am definitely not a believer in megadoses of anything.)

I have a history of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis but had been euthyroid and asymptomatic for almost 3 decades until I decided to start using supposedly healthier sea salt which I only realized too late was not iodized. My palpitations have finally almost resolved with this potassium iodide product (and using iodized salt in my food) and I have been able to back down from every day to 3-4/week, usually after running 6-8 miles outside in hot weather. Not sure why Amazon has “flavor” as a category to rate: I don’t detect any flavor. It is also small and easy to swallow.

After being on Levothyroxine for 1 or 2 years I started to take this iodine and my medication has now been reduced from 125 mcg and 100mcgs every other day to 75 mcg daily. It took just a few months for the iodine and blood test to take effect. Any one with this problem will understand that we need to be taking our medication for a while before we have the blood tests, so I would say I had immediate results. I am now trying to get even lower in my medication, but the improvement has either stopped or slowed. I feel that our natural thryroxine is somehow better than Levothyroxine and I feel better.
Iodine deficiency can be part of the cause of this condition, I have a clear hereditary condition myself, as I have 2 brothers and 2 sisters with hypothyroidism and a grandmother who also had it.
