Look, I’ll be real here. I found a viral post talking about folks who eat dirt, and I found myself insatiably curious as to what the hell that was even about. I wasn’t about to buy a bag of dirt off some rando on Etsy (which is apparently common), so I found this “food grade” stuff here and bought it. First impression: you’d have thought I bought an expensive watch with the packaging this stuff comes in – for a second, I forgot it was dirt. Second impression: it’s… well, dirt!
I was surprised at how much powder there was, and little itty-bitty pieces, too. Not that I was expecting an exquisite ingot of comestible dirt, but it definitely felt like I bought gravel when I figured nuggets were the norm. However, I don’t really eat dirt on the regular, so maybe that’s okay. I don’t know. I wasn’t planning to eat 100 grams of this stuff anyway, so no harm done. That brings me to my second point: it’s pricey. 100 grams of gravel for 15 bucks *is* a bit much in my opinion, but I suppose it’s the price you pay for having it be “food-grade” dirt. Still, would have expected a few bigger pieces in there just to save me the powdery mess.
Now, for the taste. Like I said, I really don’t eat dirt. I don’t surround myself with a circle of folks that eats dirt, nor do I consume dirt-eating content on the regular. I actually had to research this before buying some edible dirt, so based on the limited knowledge I have of what good dirt tastes like, I’d say it’s… good? It has this strange aftertaste that I can only describe as the way the earth smells after it rains – mild, earthy, weirdly pleasant I guess. Had my spouse try it and she gagged, so the good taste is apparently relative. It seems that grit is sometimes sought after by avid dirt-eaters, so I’ll comment that it’s mildly gritty but not in a beach-sand sort of way – I imagine it’s the sort of grit Moon-Sand would have if I had the courage (or pica) to try it. It’s definitely not creamy like, maybe, a bentonite clay face mask would be, or flour paste. It’s definitely rougher than that.
All in all, from an outsider’s perspective, it’s weird but understandable. I won’t be buying more, but it’s not for lack of quality. This stuff’s plenty good for those who wanna eat it, and I say, go for it. Our ancestors did this kind of thing and there are folks around the world who still do, and that’s neat. the appearance and texture is like other ural clay i’ve had, but this one doesn’t have the usual almond/rain taste. it basically has no taste at all.

Not what I exactly wanted for but it’s good. For me it’s something is better than nothing. Hardness is good but when you byte small pieces it’s so soft and feels little muddy. May it’s been packed for longer time so no earthy taste, no smell but it looks clean and natural. No sand mixed. I would give 8 out of 10. Thank you!!

Love love love! Not soft and mushy like the so called “White dirt”. This is the perfect texture, taste and crunch! Very earthy taste. Will be buying a second bag.
Update: I’m now on my 4th bag. Can’t get enough of this stuff! Someone said it tastes like damp basement. This is spot on! I do however want to say don’t eat too much as once because clay lowers your iron levels as it pulls impurities and other nutrients from your body. Eat s few pieces a day which I know is difficult because this stuff is addicting!

I have tried a few edible clays from Amazon and this one has been the best so far, I did follow the instructions in the package and let it air our when first opening it as it can have a weird taste other wise, but once it’s been airing out for a few hours the taste it’s amazing, I have also soaked it in some cold water and it literally tastes like rain. Have bought it a couple of times, it is more expensive than most but I think the quality makes up for it.

I’ve never left an Amazon product review, but with what I’ve seen as chalk/clay reviews being all over the place, I thought I had to share my experience. An absolute A+. This is EXACTLY what I have in mind when I think of wanting to eat chalk/clay. The clay is just like they show in the pictures, smaller bits and most importantly, completely uniform. No grainy sand bits, no weird texture chunks, no soft then hard spots, purely clay. Not overly crunchy (like biting into a rock), but definitely crunchy enough, and the taste is EXACTLY what I would expect: nothing overpowering, but like the smell when it first starts to rain, or even a damp basement smell, or wet dust kinda thing. Sort of like dirt, but moreso the wet dust smell. This particular clay does not stick to the teeth, or become creamy/muddy in the mouth, but if eating enough at once, can kind of be grainy, but nothing a quick rinse of water can’t handle. The price is probably very high for the amount you receive, but from the reviews I’ve seen so far across Amazon, I’d imagine you get what you pay for. This was packaged well in a cardboard box with info, guarantees and a coupon code for your next purchase. I will buy again, and will try their other chalks/clays too
