Going through menopause has created issues I thought I’d never have to deal with, including downstairs dryness, but here we are.
I use prescribed estrogen 2 times per week and it doesn’t seem to be enough. And the risk of using estrogen in larger amounts can also give you increased chances of cancer so it’s not something I want to pursue unless I need to.
I ran across these supplements and thought I’d give it a shot. And they actually do work quite well. I didn’t have much luck for the first month (instead of using 2 per day, I am taking only 1) but lubrication has increased over the second month. But at the cost of almost $43 for just the softgels – even if splitting up into a two-month supply – is expensive. It’s actually more than my prescription.
The softgels are small, oval shaped and have a reddish color. They are easy to swallow and have zero aftertaste or ill effects. I haven’t seen much of a change in my hair, skin or nails but since that wasn’t my main reason for trying them out, I am not disappointed. And although it has made a difference in my dryness, it has not brought me back to my younger days (just in case you were wondering how effective these supplements are).
Overall, this is a product that does what it says so it will get a high rating but it’s cost will be out of reach for many of us.

I am surprised these actually do as advertised. Most supplements are unfortunately rarely effective.
Very easy to take and there is no bad smell or aftertaste. In fact the smell reminds me of treacle or molasses. I am pretty sure they don’t taste like that (probably fishyish if I was to guess) so I am not tempted to test the actual flavor even though the sweet smell is tempting.
This does include D3 which I already take, but it’s such an important vitamin that many people lack and need. So not bad to add more if you already take it but very beneficial for those that don’t.
These work quickly and I am impressed by the effectiveness and quality. The glass jar is probably the nicest container I’ve received a supplement in.
The expiration is 12-31-2025. There is a month of servings since the suggested serving is 2 a day.
My only negative is the price. Honestly I would have trouble rationalizing spending so much on a supplement no matter how much money I have, unless it granted wishes or made me look or feel 10 years younger. I am not sure how much Himalayan sea Buckthorn is worth but even then, it seems like a steep price to pay for moisture in the nether regions. But I am not going through menopause yet so maybe it is worth it? I guess time will tell…. Literally.
But 5 stars for a supplement that actually does as it claims. Rare find.

I’ve been reading a lot lately about sea buckthorn oil for certain problems related to menopause. I’ve tried a few products, and actually feel like they’re helping quite a bit with dryness overall. There are capsules that you consume, and creams/lotions that you apply topically. This product, Femininity Smooth as Silk +, falls into the first category, to consume. They are essentially the same product as another brand I’ve been taking and have liked. I was hoping to find a less-expensive alternative to those.
Unfortunately, these are actually more. What is it with sea buckthorn being so expensive? Is there a shortage of it? I guess I need to research that. I like the concept of this product, of first getting a starter set and then ordering refills. The refills are less, but not really enough less to make them affordable on a monthly basis. At least, speaking as a person going through menopause, taking both prescription and OTC meds & supplements – $40-$50 a month for a non-prescription supplement, in addition to one’s rx’s, is a lot. YMMV, but I will spend around $10-$25 a month on a non-rx supplement that actually seems to help me. When you take more than one, they add up fast… So as much as I would like to subscribe to these, I really can’t.
All that said, the presentation of this starter set is lovely (sorry my photo didn’t turn out very well, and doesn’t do it justice), but the box is beautiful and the bottle is very high quality, made to last and be refilled.
I’ve been taking these for a couple of weeks now, after switching over from the other brand, and I can say these have continued to maintain the positive effects I was getting from the others.
