When I say this product saved me—IT DID! Quick back story: a year and a half ago, I developed a weird lump in my throat with what seemed like a lot of mucus. I thought I had a sinus infection and allopathic doc gave me antibiotics. That didn’t work, so went to the ENT. Diagnosed me with Silent Reflux and prescribed PREVACID. I took them and it worked…until I tried to get off them. Every time I would try, the lump in throat came back AND a huge burning sensation that traveled into my esophagus….much worse than my original symptoms. So I figured I was doomed to a life of OTC proton pump inhibitors. Nothing my natural doc did would help–tried DGL, baking soda, digestive enzymes, apple cider vinegar…nothing. Out of desperation, I found the story behind HEARTBURN FREE…it was a natural product and I saw that it helped 85% of users. Hmmm…seriously, why don’t the ENT or Gastro docs recommend this first before dooming their patients to a life of PPI’s? Amazes me that they don’t….this can really help! I have seen that if you have an ulcer, to not use!!! So heed that warning…
MY REMEDY FOR WEANING OFF PREVACID?
1. I started with one pack of the Heartburn Free by Enzymatic Therapy. I took the Heartburn Free every other day for 6 days(3 pills). I took it and my prevacid on the same day, but took Prevacid first thing in the morning and then HF an hour before lunch. I wouldn’t take them at the same time…..( I emailed Enzymatic Therapy to check for contraindications, and they do not know of any…but check with them yourself to verify. ) After day 6, I braved up and only took the Heartburn Free. Then the next day, I took a Prevacid and alternated days of HF & Prevacid for the rest of the pack 7 pills or 14 more days. Now, to be totally honest, I had 3 days of acidy symptoms that weren’t as bad as before, but still left me miserable. Once, it passed, I never had rebound symptoms again.
2. THEN: I ordered another pack. Some people need this, and I was one of them. Being on prevacid for a year, left my stomach on melt down and asking it to start producing acid again was going to be a challenge. The acid comes back in force and leaves you with wanting to take and then taking the Prevacid again. Ugh! So anyway, got another pack and just took the Heartburn Free EVERY DAY. I ate on my best behavior. Asking the tummy to work again had to be a fair proposition—treat it well for the next 2 weeks and it will behave nicely. So, I ate perfectly–a lot of alkalizing food–read up on that!
3. For good measure: I ordered my final pack. I don’t know if this is what you should do, but I needed to do this. I used this pack to go back to taking HF every other day for 4 pills (8 days). NO PREVACID! Then, I took 1 HF pill every 3rd day. Ex: Took HF on Monday, Thursday, Sunday. Then with remaining pills, I took 1 pill every 4th day…by the time the packet was done, I no longer needed them and my tummy was healed! I have been heartburn, Acid reflux free since Christmas 2013. A Christmas miracle…thank you God & thank you Enzymatic Therapy!

Ditto everything Genevieve (Most helpful favorable review) says. TIP: If you are currently taking Prilosec or Nexium, continue taking it during the 20 day course of the Heartburn Free regimen. THEN quit the Prilosec or whatever acid reducer you have been taking. Otherwise, you may think that the Heartburn Free isn’t working. Be sure to complete the full 10 capsule (take every other day) regimen. I keep a second box on hand for rare breakthrough heartburn.
Still unsure? Reducing or shutting down stomach acid production (like Prilosec & Nexium does) may intuitively seem like a good solution to heartburn or GERD. Problem is, you need stomach acid to break down & then absorb nutrients from food or vitamins… Please Google: Effects of vitamin and mineral deficiencies (particularly B vitamins), and you will discover the health costs of using Prilosec, Nexium…, which will worsen with time. Switch to Heartburn Free & start taking a good FOOD-BASED multivitamin/ mineral supplement to make-up for deficiencies that you may already have. If you have stomach problems after taking vitamins, that will go away or be reduced as well. I like “Alive” brand vit./mins., but any health food store can make a good Food-based vit. recommendation.
I had expected to be on 1st Prilosec, then Nexium for the rest of my life. Bless the Whole Foods Market employee in the supplement section who told me abt Heartburn Free when it first came out. I have used it with excellent results ever since.
Amazon has the best $ I have found, & the free shipping helps when you order 2 packs.

This is my favorite remedy, along with the German Chocolate DGL, DGL Ultra German Chocolate – 90 Chewable Tablets (Pack of Two) for an overall reduction of heartburn/reflux sensations. I don’t find that it works quite as long as it claims (months), but for me it is helpful for several weeks at least when I take as directed. If you lie down for bed and begin to feel that reflux feeling you can take one and within 30 minutes it will be gone and you’ll sleep well. You may have burps that taste citrusy, but that’s better than the burning sensation of the reflux. You can also take it at dinner or with a meal and you’re less likely to have the citrusy burps.
I do think the product is overpriced for what it is, only 10 capsules. However, I’ve tried other brands that are the same main ingredient and they’ve not worked even a quarter as well as these.
